Just curious, are the main players of Kmeleon going to charge for the final version when it comes out? Ad supported perhaps? If this is the direction then it would be very hard to convince people IMHO about kmeleon. If it is going to be free forever then THANK YOU!

Duh! man its open source. You can even download the source code and make changes to it. Read http://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html#TOCGPL

Technically, you CAN sell GPL'd products and not offer them for free download... The only requirement is that you distribute the source as well. Back in the day, BSD worked much in that way - you had to pay for it, but when you did, you got the source code along with it. Of course, just because somebody CAN sell a GPL'd app, doesn't mean it's a good idea... Nobody will pay for a browser that's really just a stripped-down version of a free, OSS browser, not only out of principle but out of pure, unadulterated cheapness. If K-Meleon went far to distinguish itself feature-wise from Mozilla then maybe it'd be possible for the developers to make a profit, but in its current state and for the foreseeable future, K-Meleon would die a quick and horrible death if it moved to Non-Free status. It's a great browser even in its beta stage, but NOBODY would use it if they had to pay for it when you can do all the same and more with Mozilla, even if Mozilla sucks down an extra 8-16 megs RAM, runs with three times the CPU overhead, and is a hard-drive-space hog. (ditto for IE.)

Not to dis this app though - I don't use anything else 99% of the time, and that 1% is only for those IE-loving artsy-fartsy jackasses who think that everybody else in the world also runs WindowsME on a cheapo Gateway or something and like to make their HTML as eccentric and obscure as possible JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN. Which reminds me - always send off an email to IE-only web designers telling them how many visitors they lose because of their "design philosophy." Just had to say it.
