Hi,

I use 'alternative' software as many as i can. I mean i don't want to use MS product anymore, especially for internet stuff. So i don't use outlook, msnmessenger or any. I use kemeleon, eudore and PSI-Jabber (for IM). Now i'm looking for a safe & free (open sourced or not) newsreader.
Do you know any? Do you know other freesoftware i'm may need/use?

X-News from

<a href="http://xnews.3dnews.net/">http://xnews.3dnews.net/</a>;

(supports multiple news servers; can be integrated with K-Meleon, too)

Forté Free Agent is more popular indeed but it does not support multiple servers at a time, and it cannot be integrated with web browsers. It's a good one but IMHO X-News is better.

For news I still use ... *gasp* ... trusty old Netscape 4.08. I use it esclusively for news only. I'ts fast, it's free and it has no-nonsense newsreader. I stick with 4.08 because that was the last version which didn't have news servers and newsgroups list in the same window with message list and messages itself. I hate the way later Netscapes and now Mozilla use one huuuuge window for both the list and message display. They just don't fit comfortably all in there. I know folks who still use Netscape 3 news. It's lightning fast by todays standards and gets the job done on most cases smiling smiley

Free Agent DOES support multiple servers at a time. By default, it runs in the working directory called \Agent\Data, right ?
So, create a empty \Agent\NewData, and, in the Agent's desktop (or Start Menu) shorcut properties , fill the Working directorie field with ...\Agent\NewData.
And you can launch the two sessions at the same time ! :-)
