Hi All,
I have seen many people asking for download manager integrations, and many have given suggestions of writting macros or copying URLs to clip board. I hate to do a two step process for a simple one step downloading. So after two hours work(writing c++ after very long time) I made my very own plugin.
This is a kmeleon integration plugin for a powerful free download manager called <a href="http://stardownloader.com">Star Downloader</a>. It has all the features that you want a download manager to have, pause,resume, multi threaded, multi site, ftp/http support, scheduling, categorizing downloads ..etc.
You need to first install the Star Downloader, then you need to install my plugin . My plugin can be found in the kmeleon directory at http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/j_seshkumar.

I've got one req though :-)

After clicking a zip file, the url of k-meleon is set to the location of the zip file and a blank page is shown. Normally, the page doesn't change when clicking a zipfile..

And is there a way to add more filetypes?

For example to downlaod rar files?

I'd like to try the plugin but I was not able to download the zip from Yahoo. It' s probably my configuration problem but I know people who have encountered d/l problems from Yahoo before.

Could anybody send me the plugin by e-mail to aule@tfz.net. If Sesh agrees, I could, for easier access, also upload the plugin file to my server, which does not require any log-in, and post the address here.

i am downloading with FlashGet and it is easy to do so. Whenever i click on a link of a programm to load, KM directs the downloading to FG.

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed similar problem, I will spend some more time on this weekend to find out whats happening. Regarding new formats to be added to plugin, it is hardcoded into the .dll and its that how netscape plugin works. I will make another copy of plugin with new types as people ask, and they can put both of them. Better way would be to do that dynamicaly, and for this either kmeleon should provide me mime type attachement as netscape and mozilla does.

FlashGet integrates well with km as a download manager, I've been using it for some time with Opera plugins. Although I haven't tried them, the Opera plugins include several file types in addition to .exe and .zip. I'll give star a look to see how the two programs compare.

mmm... honestly, i do not like very much the idea of having to register to download sth.. just imagine the resources section with this limit... km is free software.. so I think we shoult try to keep also plugins free..

Could you put it on the resource section,that will be great!.It's still is in beta, but from the feedback I think people liked it. I couldn't find a place to upload the file so I had to create a yahoo group and put it there, and I have no intensions to ask someone to register in yahoo.

I cannot upload files to the resources section of K-Meleon's homepage, which is managed by Lele. But I uploaded the plugin to my site, from where it can be freely downloaded by anybody without any problems or registration:

There is no html there, just the file. I can take the file away from there as soon as you tell me to.

I haven't got the plugin yet, but I tried Star DL a few times. I have a pretty shaky connection a lot of the time, so I need to resume a lot. Star won't do it for me. When my connection punkins out, it calls the job done, virus scan and all - but the file is poop. It seems to have good potential, but I'll have to stick with Fresh for a while. But thanks for the work. I'm hoping ... going to drop a note to Star about the abortion problem

Since Sesh's nice plugin is now up on K-M's Resources Page, I removed it from my server, because there should be no problems now with the availability.

So will the plugin work with MOZILLA - since K-Meleon is actually a Mozilla derivative?

Some users tested this plugin with netscape and mozilla , so it should work with browsers that support netscape plugin functionality.
