K-Meleon and the OpenCD project

Greetings!

I wasn't sure where to post this, so if there's a better place (forum, mailing list) to address this, please kindly direct me that way.

I'm not sure if anyone in the K-Meleon project is familiar with the new OpenCD project. The projects goal is to "To compile and distribute A CD-ROM containing a selection of high quality open source software for use on proprietary operating systems." Specifically, the idea is to take the "cream of the crop" open source applications that are avaliable for the Win32/WinNT platform and offer them to individuals, corporations, and organizations in an effort to promote the use of open source software. The project was originally suggested on Newforge.com (see here and here) and is currently being hosted at both http://www.theopencd.org and http://www.opensourceware.net .

The project is still very young and we're currently developing ideas for our installer. We're interested in using HTML pages hosted on the CD-ROM to act as the front-end. We'd like to be able to have some lightweight web browser on the CD that we could lauch directly from the CD to display these HTML pages. The suggestion was made that we should look into K-Meleon to do this. The features needed would include:

1. Ability to launch the browser directly from the CD-ROM without first installing.
2. The browser would automatically start in full screen mode
3. All executables launched from the browser would automatically start running (rather than having a dialog box pop up and ask if the user wanted to save to disk or run)
4. We could customize the browsers's look and feel (theme, tool bar, etc.)

The biggest trick I think, from a developers point of view, would be getting K-Meleon to run directly off the CD-ROM (I've tried burning the installed components, but that currently doesn't work). We have several people willing to help add these features, including myself. If this sounds do-able and you'd like to cooperate, please contact me at jaaronfarr [at] yahoo [dot] com or join our development list at https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opencd-devel .

We're really excited about this project and I think using K-Meleon as our "installer engine" would be great. Let me know what you think.

Sounds stupid. There's nothing hard about downloading a program off the internet. Sorry dude, get a life.
