0.7 fix the Hotmail all messages select

In Hotmail ticking the box at the top to select all the messages on the page only selects the first one. Will this be working in K-M version 0.7?

Probably not. The problem is caused by code that is written specifically for Internet Explorer. This is something to complain to Hotmail (Microsoft) about.

I have the Junk filter set to 'High' and the Inbox still gets swamped with spam. Individually clicking on each spam to delete in my Inbox get tedious and produces "mild finger-ache". At least my main Yahoo! account is spam free.

This happens in Opera for ages, and I think they fixed it from Opera 5.12. I set my Hotmail account to only accept mail from people in my adress book. This causes some limitation but it's the only to not get spam in your Hotmail Inbox.

As of Mozilla .9 the check all check box didn't work. So, you know it's not K-Meleon-specific code.

In moz 1.0rc3 the checkbox works; presumably in the just-released 1.0 as well. so if kmeleon uses moz 1.0 you should be good.

Keith,

I just checked it in Mozilla 1.0 and it didn't work for me. Anyone else?

In Hotmail the select all box next to "from" does not work correctly in Mozilla 1.1 or any other mozilla based windows browser I've tried.

Below is taken from bugzilla.mozilla.org referring to this hotmail error(no.114812)

>>>>hotmail.com thinks that Mozilla is "IE compatible", so it sends JavaScript
specific to IE (e.g. non-standard code).

>>>>In other words, there's little we can do about it, except complain to the
Microsoft support.

My question is can km be made in such a way that it can be identified as any browser? Opera has this option.

k-meleon does this already.

check out Edit>Preferences>Privacy... you can put anything you want in the UA string. some sites use other tests, though, that aren't so easily spoofed.

Referring to my message above, I also tried km 0.6.5 . I assume this beta version uses later version of mozilla embed. So can we conclude here that it also got something to do with mozilla code that this hotmail problem comes up? seems logical to me.

The problem isn't with the Mozilla code. The problem is that Hotmail (Microsoft) uses a javascript method that is specific to Internet Explorer when you use Hotmail. The problem is that their end, not ours.

Andrew,

I cannot understand why it works on km 0.6 and not on mozilla 1.0.There must be something on the code of MOZILLA EMBED USED IN KM 0.6 that avoids this hotmail javascript error?
I am not an expert in programming so I have not gone into the code of mozilla embed in order to draw conclusion. I have repeated installing km 0.6.5 beta to confirm what I have written here .

I repeat: HOTMAIL " ALL MESSAGES SELECT" WORKS IN KM 0.6 AND NOT ON SUCCEEDING BETAs.

thanks

Just tried again. Doesn't work on my K-meleon 0.6. Strange that it works on some K-meleons.

Tried it today and it works now for 0.6. Maybe Hotmail were bombarded with emails from K-M/Moz Hotmail users. If only they could sort the spam problem out.

This problem has some mysterious roots. I never had any difficulty until I recently did a re-install of K-M0.6 (and some other diddling) to fix other problems that turned up when I edited the prefs to fix other... etc. etc... But suddenly the ability to slect all came back again, without my having to do anything. Duh. Blame Windows. Bash Micro. smiling smiley
