since they both use the gecko engine, is there any advantage kmeleon holds over mozilla? or vice versa?

K-Meleon is most likely on any given machine much faster than Mozilla. You can notice the difference especially on a slower machine.

Mozilla has more features. That's why KMeleon is better.

(I seriously believe that. Users are consistently told that more features are good. But more features means more bloat, more time debugging, a more confusing interface, etc. Really good software has the features users need and nothing more.)

Load mozilla. Load 5 web pages. Check memory usage with task manager.

Repeat with K-Meleon.

Results:
Mozilla: ~ 20 Mb.
K-Meleon: ~ 13 Mb.

That's a pretty good reason.

Also, try using Mozilla andK-Meleon on m/cs with < 64 MB RAM. The UI feel is *much* better with K-Meleon.

Unix hackers have always had the best point of view on these things: make lots of little programs that do a single thing but do it well, rather than horrendous bloats that have lots of features but aren't very good at any of them.

It makes it easier for programmer, administrator and user to get things done if you write software in this way. It's the marketroids that insist on bells and whistles.
