Names Are Important

To all, and especially the programmers:
First of all, I tried out your K-meleon point six browser. Let me praise you.
It is a very good thing that you are working to get it in shape; with all of
the existing features it is the only internet program for HTML that one would
need (besides lynx, which is very good, even without the pictures). And when
one gets all of the defects fixed . . .

How did you come upon the name K-meleon? It sounds as if this is some kind of
convention, is it -- to name internet programs after animals (gopher, arachne,
etc). People seek to identify their name with some living (or imagined)
creature, so as to "acquire" its finer, most desirable qualities. An example,
in recent times, of a leader linking his name with an animal would be "The Lion
of Judah", Haile Selassie; also there is the Mighty Sparrow, and a few other
notable ones.

The first objection, then, is: what sort of qualities do we look for in a
chameleon? Does it have anything to do with
- bravery
- beauty
- "wisdom"
- faithfulness
- strength
- speed
- caring for the others
- "solidarity"

or even an abundance of just plain "brutality" ?

What we admire will guide our actions.

Who is in charge of, or generally giving guidance to, this browser project?
I humbly but forcefully ask that you think and find a new name for this good
internet program of yours.
