Another question ^^ . Will more installed plugins (i.e. java, wmp, quicktime) slow down the loading of pages on KM?
Not generally.
K-Meleon will scan for several 3rd party plugins when it loads but it doesn't do anything with those plugins until you load a page or file that needs them.
