the thing "guenter" explained worked well so far (spoofing).
there´s a new yahoo mail version out now (april ´10) and with this it doesnt work. yahoo says i need firefox 3 at least but with spoofing i have firefox 2. what can i do?

Go: Tools -> User Agent -> Custom and insert a Firefox 3 User Agent String.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/20101130 Firefox/3.5.16

Else: ./defaults/pref/I10n.js open it with an editor and ad these two lines starting with pref:

pref("kmeleon.privacy.useragent3.name", "Firefox 3.5");
pref("kmeleon.privacy.useragent3.string", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/20101130 Firefox/3.5.16");

The later will add Firefox 3 as option to Your menu.


If I remember correctly new mail works with K-Meleon 1.5.4 also. But If that does not work for 1.5.4.

Or if anything does not work:


You can install K-Meleon 1.6beta2en-Us into a folder with that name and not on top of 1.5.4. That has a html and Script engine that is the same as Firefox 3. It will definitely work if You "spoof" Firefox 3.

Both versions of K-Meleon can use the same profiles folder. But create a backup of it to make sure.

You can get most menus in Your own language if You copy the 1.5.4 folder called ./k-meleon/locales to the same place in 1.6.beta2 (preferences menu, Error console and a few other items from folder chrome will stay English).

p.s Entweder du fügst FF 3 in Benutzerdefiniert... oder permanent ein. Wenn ich richtig erinnere, ging die neueste Mail mit 1.5.4 auch. Sonst mußt du 1.6beta2 nehmen. Beim Installieren ein neues Verzeichnis nehmen! Der größte Teil außer Einstellungsmenü etc. wird de-DE, wenn du das Verzeichnis ./locales von 1.5.4 rüberkopierst.

Ah, you're quoting another poster, but I don't see anything from you? This is the K-Meleon browser forum, not Yahoo support. FWIW, I have a Yahoo email account and have no problems entering it from K-Meleon 1.6b2

Yes, but siria's post is in answer to many peoples requests that clearly have cause in the down time of some Yahoo mail servers, forgotten passwords, ID thefts and simple ignorance.

BTW. Even You posted in answer to Subject "can not enter my yahoo mail box"

My post is in answer to Subject "I can not enter my yahoo mail box with K-Meleon"

This subtle difference is constantly causing Google and other search engines to direct people with generic but not K-Meleon specific problems here to the K-Meleon forums. And siria answered.




Yahoo Mail Box Use With K-Meleon Browser

1.) For the old yahoo mail You need K-Meleon 1.1-1.5.4 and spoof an older Firefox string.

2.) For the "brand new Yahoo mail" You need K-Meleon 1.6.beta or newer and spoof e.g.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:10.0a1) Gecko/20111008 Firefox/10.0a1

This string can be inserted into:

Menu item: Tools -> User Agent Custom

Or via Privacy Bar - Right Click on User Agent...


Else a modern User Agent String can be permanently added as an menu option via editing the file:

./program files/k-meleon/defaults/pref/I10n.js

Approximately line 14, section // Privacy

Replace the original code with this. That adds the bold/highlighted UA string.
And two extra lines of code are inserted.
