Edit -- Preferences -- Toolbar Background Image
Browse to where you have a bitmap more to your taste. Exact size does not matter, if it tiles well. Or you can replace the "back.bmp" in (drive,path)\K-Meleon\Profiles\default\xxxxxxxx.slt\ (that folder with the weird name that is horribly unique for every K-M installation)
Anything that is light-colored enough to read the text on will do. Gradients are nice, of course. It should be high enough to cover, depends on how fat your toolbars are. The original bmp is 640x124, overkill IMHO

note that some slkins may include background bitmaps, but in the current implementation these are not detected by k-meleon automatically - you can browse to them, though, in the way mentioned above...

What is the best toolbar image to use with the galeon skin? Because it looks ugly with the Netscape Modern toolbar image.

Doesn't the Galeon skin include a toolbar background, too? I think it does...
