JAP is German project funded with public money.

The public money has run out. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Guenter,

Although public money has run out for JAP, it still does have an executable out there for Windows. Since it is from your side of the pond, do you think Jap is a decent enough program to try and use with KM?

Tks,

N

Naturally the programs exist. They stopped funding when the product was running. They will not subsidize the AN.ON service (that is the servers) anymore. The board that gave the money is AFAIK not supposed to do that forever. They pay for research. During the initial period they also payed the servers that were proof of conceopt. & to me It looks as if the universities that carried the development will coordinate & continue to support futher development.

p. s. & OT The other thing is that after the attak against Democracy in NY by fanatic hooligans these privacy items are not popular with many politians because they could be used by such criminals. The result is that no other public money is likely to be spent for AN.ON service. It is going to be a private service.

IMHO terrorists have other possibilities - so the terrorists created a welcome & ready excuse for those that always wanted to spy on citizens. That these ppl get their way is probably the same everywhere at the moment.

The AN.ON service is fine for those who only whish to surf anonymously.
For those engaged into criminal acts it is worthless since you still can be tracked down.
Regarding the reasons why the service isn't subsidized any more, 2 reasons come to my mind:
- Even so you can be tracked down by using AN.ON it is burdening the spying process on the citizens considerably.
- The very low number of criminals who tried to use this service and got caught wouldn't justify further subventions.
