General discussion about K-Meleon
what is the issue on this particular website

Everytime I go to www.nightclubcamera.com, the flash player does not display correctly in K-Meleon. It did on the previous versions but not the latest.

Can anyone tell me what the cause of this is? It works fine in Internet Explorer and Firefox.

?
I assume K-Meleon 1.02.
Give me an url that does not work & that is inside the place.

For a start copy the FFoxes plugins directory to k-meleon's.

p. s. since You posted a commercial url i would appreciate feedback untill
Monday, thx.

Yes, I am using K-Meleon 1.02 with latest Flash from Adobe/Macromedia.

I did copy the FFox plugins into K-Meleons's plugin folder and I still get the issue with the flash player. The player is embedded into the browser so I don't know what you mean by getting you an url that is inside the site.

I have another computer with K-Meleon 0.9 and it displays the flash music player correctly.

It's not a really big deal but since I use K-Meleon to work on the site weekly, I have to look at it constantly.

David,

I believe guenter wants to know where the Flash object that's not working is located in. I don't have Flash installed, but I can see one Flash object in the main page; is it that one? If it's in a member-only page, that would be difficult to test.

@rmn, Yes, that is what i wanted. You can log in there; it is free.
@David, my player shows e.g. the US map that You get when You go to
Find Nightclubs.
K-Meleon1.02 de-AT version which is not much differnt from en-US.

If the 0.9 shows the page correctly use his flash plugins = copy his plugins
to the 1.02 plugins folder ( else try 1.02 on that PC with 0.9 plugins folder )
- next check whether You have any content filter swiched on by mistake.
AFAIK 1.02 does not have blockers on by default, so
You could test with a new profile. Finally Your install can be broken.

You don't have to be logged in to see it the flash player. When you go to the site, the flash music player is embedded into the header on the top left side. Here are two screenshots. One is Firefox (normal) and the second is K-Meleon. (not normal) Look at the top left where you see the song, "Generation Trance".

Here is the K-Meleon screenshot. Notice how the flash player doesn't render in completely. You see a big blue square.

I don't have the edit option so if a moderator wants to modify the url in my first post, that's fine. I promise I'm not starving for any Google rankings. =) The website is too brand new.

I did do another install of K-Meleon 1.02 and same results. I did an install on my roommates computer with the latest K-Meleon and same thing so I know it's not a problem with my machine.

If this can't be figured out, then oh well. K-Meleon is the browser of my choice which is why this is bothering me.

I started another PC with soundcard - Your page plays music.

The player instalation program both of shockwave and flash have problems.
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/important.html#shockwave
That is why i recommended copying the plugins folder.

I install a Netscpae 4.8 or 7.2 and copy the plugins directory over to k-meleon,
that always works for me when i have to set up a new system with plugins support.

rmn informed me that forum has a no follow tag somewhere, sorry.
I did not realize that You can not edit. I have never seen the new forum from the other side. I could not even explain to create an account :-)

It plays the music with no problems. It just doesn't render the graphics properly. (See the screenshots in my above post)

There are two plugin folders. When I copy the FireFox plugins, do I paste it over the K-Meleon Plugins folder or the KPlugins folder?

By the way, thanks for checking out the problem for me. I do appreciate any help.

@David - I went to the site. I presume what you feel is not running is the scrolling graphic. It worked fine for me. Flash player is now up to 9.0.28. It will install two new files that seem to supercede the old way of calling it: NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe. You can get the install here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

@David
do I paste it over the K-Meleon Plugins folder or the KPlugins folder?

Paste it to the plugins, not kplugins.
With K-MeleonCCF 0.05.2 and Shockwave Flash 9.0 r16, the website renders perfectly (just as in Firefox).

it looks correct for me. You might want to set the preference
plugin.expose_full_path
to true
and then you can see exactly which plugins are being loaded with about:plugins (that's about-colon-plugins in case you see a smiley there)

And keep in mind that there is a plugins sub-directory both in your k-meleon profile directory and in your installation directory.

@David
The moving band in the left upper corner at Nightclub Camera worked all the time, that is why i did not mention it
( this machine does not have a sound card ).

kplugins: contains k-meleon specific plugins that are made by k-meleon devs.
plugins: contains the Netscape plugin type plugins such as music & flash players.
In some cases k-meleon recognizes and uses plugins outside the Netscape plugins folder. Plugins inside the plugins folder are favoured/used rather than others that are not inside it when they can handle the same mimetype.

btw. If something does not work it is really a fault of the producer of the plugins because k-meleon supports this standart, but if You turn to them for help they will claim - it is k-meleon's fault or claim we do not support their thing.

Some producers even actively prevent k-meleon from using their product.
K-meleon can use things like new Yahoo mail and Roboform adapter for SeaMonkey
in spite of other claims - & You have to resort to camoflage or hack to get it going.

You are lucky - because ppl that have a problem on their system have almost no alternative but copying or fake Netscape.exe und folder structure presence.

Ich bin nicht gegen JAP oder Tor, aber hier hatten trolle die dienste missbraucht.

Hmm....ok. I can see by your screenshot that the music player rendered correctly. I guess it's a hit or miss when it comes to K-Meleon.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll try to mess around with the plugin folder and see if I can get it to work.

Ive just wanted to let you know. With K-Ninja 2.0.4 the problem still exists.
On the machine I use K-Meleon I only have this browser installed. Beside iexplore, of course.
Actually K-Meleon linked me to adobe.com. AFAIR it was on yahoo.de> mail. K-Ninja gives also a notification but the linking does not work.
Oh, but no other Flash version had been installed before.

Nein ist schon okay, ich verstehe dich.

K-Ninja 2.0.4 the problem still exists.

K-Ninja is identical for the elements relevant to plugins use & install.
I have no idea why the problem appears on some PC/OS installs.
The flash installer should have a fallback-mechanism to guide it to install location when the automatic finding of the browser fails. Apparently that fallback is buggy.
