Is there a way to make the BUTTONS on the main bar larger. I have had other versions in the past and don't remember this issue in the past.

Use a skin version with bigger buttons: eg Phoenity Large (24 pixels),
which is onne of the 3 default skins. The other two have 16 pixel (=default)

I You need a bigger one yet? I do not know whether any bigger than 24 pix diameter
exist but:

If You have/get hold of grafics that are bigger the icons-size can be redifined.
