Hello,
I have a problem; I´ve install the pocket k-meleon portable,
but when i try to open it, it shows a error saying "It misses the MSVCR71.dll. Can´t launch the aplication"!!!!!
Anyone knows what´s the problem??

It is delivered without runtime libraries (reduces download and dll are present on many machines ).

Separate libraries via the home page of a good old K-Meleon Version called Lontronics

Thank you guys, but in the computer where i want to have K-Meleon, is not possible to put anything in the windows folder. Administration policy!!!
I´ve already download that DLL, but as i say, can not install it.
Is there another way to have K-Meleon in that PC??
I have now firefox portable, but i like more K-Meleon.

Rui,

Just copy the necessary DLL files to the folder in which you have installed Pocket K-Meleon. Of course, this may be on a portable drive, such as a USB flash drive. You do not have to install the DLLs to the Windows system folder(s) on the host computer.

Thank you for your concern, but i´ve already do that and the k-meleon don´t start.
The message saying that the DLL is missing don´t appear anymore, but the K-meleon just don´t start.
Any ideas???

All three dll must go into k-meleon folder where k-meleon.exe is.
mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll.

After that k-meleon should start.

IF not You could try with xpcom.dll, xpcom_compat.dll and xpcom_core.dll from SeaMonkey that has the same GRE as Your K-Meleon because they do not create
an empty K-Meleon Profiles folder in app data folder on hdd.

If that does not help I am out of ideas.


btw. You can always place dll into application folder instead of system.
That way they are automatically detected by application - it also helps if
You have 2 apps that need 2 different versions of a dll.

You can try copy this dll files in C:\ path. This path commonly are in system path load and you normaly can write in \ root folder.

Stiil nothing. I´ve tried everything but i still cannot launch the K-meleon.
Maybe something restriction of the administration.
I think i will give up...!!!! I don´t understaind...

You can try with this old MsDOS method:

Generate next file named K-Meleon.bat;

@ECHO OFF
PATH=%PATH%;F:\K-Meleon
k-meleon.exe

Where "F:\" must be the USB flash drive if this is ever the same.
(With the three dll files in "F:\K-Meleon" folder, of course)
If USB flash drive is variable you can try with this;

@ECHO OFF
PATH=%PATH%;C:\Mydlls

For this file you must copy the three dll files in "C:\Mydlls" folder (or other you like as C:\ or C:\MyPrograms\K-Meleon\dlls) before.
Execute this file ("K-Meleon.bat") before execute K-Meleon.exe.

Don't lose hope.

I ask the guys of the computers departement and they said is the administration politics.
I wiil stay with firefox, no problem.

I try in a system of my job, win2000 SP4 without Admin user.
I downloaded K-Meleon Pocket 1.02 and unzipped in my USB flash memory drive in a folder named K-Meleon. (in my house)
I connected my USB flash memory drive to computer. (drive F:\ in my job)
I tried run KM, and error message about dlls is showed.
I downloaded files; msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll, and copied this files to F:\K-Meleon (KM folder in USB flash memory drive).
Run k-meleon.exe and now KM work fine.

I think that you must try again at the begining or give me more info about system is nedded.

and now IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

I don't know why neither, but i had this problem when i tried the Kmeleon 1.1a2 Gecko 1.8.1 (alfa version). I deleted all KM, reinstall and i started to begining.
And run! Is for this than i persist to you so much with retry and try again.

Outra coisa; preciso de instalar o flash plugin para ver
algumas páginas, mas neste PC não tenho previlégios de administrador.
Como é que posso instalar esse plugin?

It is very easy. Flash plugin not needed administrator user for install, it don't have a really instalation. I like say that original "install" exe file only copy the NPSWF32.dll file in your plugins folder of each browser that be detected.

If you like install this plugin for Poket K-Meleon in your USB flash drive, you only copy this file NPSWF32.dll in plugins folder in your USB flash drive Poket K-Meleon directory. Rerun K-Meleon and check that KM detected plugin in Help -> About Plugins menu (or type about:plugins in URL bar).
