FWIW, KM 1.1 RC1 failed to run on my W98se laptop. Had to CAD and end task to get rid of it. Don't know why (am writing this in KM 1.0.2).

P.S. KM 1.1 RC2 does run.

When I looked through the list of search engines that could be added from Edit Preferences, I found that several available through the Wiki are not included. Think the list should be expanded to include those.

In my Pentium III over WXP SP2 the first time it was executed RC2 needed about 15 seconds to load. Next time was about 2 seconds to load.

If this long first time load time is gonna stay on the final it may be good to place an advise or a "loading ... please wait" pop up window.

I've even tested K-meleon 1.02 on a Win95c machine a few months ago (even with the required DLL updates installed) and the menu bar in K-meleon is still messed up. I even tried older versions of K-meleon on Win95c and the previous 1.1 alphas on Win95c, still no dice with the menu bar problem.
I knew about 1.02, but it worked fine if I removed a couple DLLs.

RC2 doesn't seem to work properly here. However, I threw the Dependency Walker at it, and it looks like it doesn't find OLEACC.DLL. Going to look for it.

Found it, placed it in the folder, but it didn't seem to help.

It doesn't seem to find these files:

c:\program files\k-meleon\locales\en-us\BOOKMARKS.DLL
c:\program files\k-meleon\locales\en-us\FULLSCREEN.DLL
c:\program files\k-meleon\locales\en-us\HISTORY.DLL
IPHLPAPI.DLL
c:\program files\k-meleon\locales\en-us\PRIVACY.DLL
c:\program files\k-meleon\locales\en-us\SESSIONS.DLL
UXTHEME.DLL
WSHIP6.DLL

took a bit of trial and error, but now the RC2 flies on Vista UE on a P4 box. After installing make sure to not activate the loader (i.e., don't click on "loader.exe"); then open by right clicking "kmeleon.exe", (either in the program folder or on the shortcut you may have installed), then "run as administrator"...even the picky Hotmail beta is running in "full" version...thank you Dorian!

There is no need for admin rights under vista unless you unchecked Multi-user Profiles and installed in program files.

I don't think oleacc.dll is really needed. 1.02 has the same dependency.

oleacc.dll seems to be a problem with old windows version when a program is ported from VC 6.0 to VC 7.0. http://www.codeproject.com/cpp/oleaccproxy.asp
This may also apply to the VC used for K-Meleon 1.1.

XUL.DLL ? I have never seen this file in a K-Meleon or SeaMonkey folder.
It is the core dll in Xul-runner. I assume that a Xulrunner runtime is/was installed? My guess: a registry problem.
K-Meleon can use Xul.dll only when he is inside the Xulrunner directory smiling smiley

IPHLPAPI.DLL provides IP helper functions.
I googled about it - it sometimes causes problems and must be reinstalled.
Specific versions for different Windows like Win98 ... exist.

oleacc.dll is part of MS active accessibility. the MSAA 1.3 addon is available for download for Win95 users here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/2/2/7220f185-9195-4e89-8c70-dfc0e2f308c5/MSAA_13_SDK.EXE
Though Kmeleon does not use the OLEACC.DLL file, run the MSAA 1.3 RDK from the SDK package to install the OLEACC.DLL file and update the GDI, USER and some OLE files for Win95. Reboot when finished.

I know for sure the WinPatrol tool can only work under Win95 WITH the OLEACC.DLL file from the MSAARDK pack. it's noted here:
http://www.winpatrol.com/win95.html

If you're testing Kmeleon 1.1 RC2 under WinXP, OLEACC.DLL should already be in the SYSTEM32 folder and Kmeleon should already look for the UXTHEME.DLL and WSHIP6.DLL files in the SYSTEM32 folder. Try deleting your existing Kmeleon profile from the \Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\K-Meleon\ folder and \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\K-Meleon\ folder. Then run Kmeleon and re-create your existing profile to see if that clears up the problem.

Last time I checked, they were generated in the profile (or local profile).

I found this files in K-MRC2, in components folder as old versions.
(I'm using profile.ini file for local profile stored)

About translations:

We have finished es-ES translation and we're testing it on RC2, but we are facing problems with translation of this entries (in kmeleon.kml file); translation strings aren't shown correctly:

Wel&come to K-Meleon %1 !=¡ Bien&venido a K-Meleon %1 !
&English/International=&Inglés/Internacional

The 1st version of the spanish translation (the one we are testing) is available here:

Spanish files

Some technical help about this problem will be much apreciated.

Thanks.

Rebooting after installation doesn't make it work. I renamed the bmpmenu and rebarmenu DLL files in the hopes that K-Meleon 1.1 would start working, but it didn't.

It also takes a while to start after a fresh boot.

This is a most disappointing release for me. sad smiley I blame it all on the shite that is Visual Studio .NET 2003.

@desga2,

There is no particular reason for these strings not to be translated.

The second string is in lang.kmm, verify if this one hasn't been modified.
The first string is in main.kmm, verify too.

I'll try it on my computer.

Does somebody know how are suppossed the groups to be opened?

The shift + enter key after inserting the name of the group on the URL bar is not working. It's only possible to open them by the groups menu, using the mouse.

Is there any new keys combination or what?

Also, I've noted that the groups has changed it's structure in the prefs.js.

Two suggestions:

1) Will the registry entries to include K-Meleon at the Media Player shiminclussionlist be implemented in the 1.1?

2) What if, in the installation setup, the multiuser profiles option would be unchecked by default?

Really, RC2 should fix this one. In any case it's a GRE issue, so you may want to experiment with a different one. (just to be sure, can you load a page with the command line or not at all?)

Creating the profiles in the K-Meleon's folder can make it crash by default? 8-|

I have never experienced it. Well, I suposse it's really difficult to fix if you haven't done it yet.

Anyway, thanks for remembering to add the registry fix for the media player.

K-Meleon runs only with admin rights correct under Vista.
When I try to start the browser as user, K-Meleon crashs:
http://www.myimg.de/?img=200705012147271a4.jpg

+1
run as administrator works
but still there's an issue with a toolbar components (I can't read full path) so only layers and url bars are available

When not running as admin, got error pop up "couldn't create browser frame".

Used Kmeleon 1.02 a lot with XP pro SP2 so sooner today I installed it and it seemed to run fine. But after a restart never got it to work : load into memory + 50% cpu use but no window.
Sounds weird.
Will go with Opera for a while but I do prefer K-Meleon

I don't think it's a GRE issue, as SeaMonkey 1.1.1 and the SeaMonkey 1.1.2 Release Candidate both work fine.

On K-Meleon 1.1, I can view web pages by clicking the bookmarks, and clicking links on web pages. It's just the URL bar that doesn't want to cooperate.
