The thing is that K-Mel:s (0:7) default look is so ugly that I fear that many
users turn it off and then never go here complaining about it.

I don't get the point here: It looks like Internet Explorer 4 or so, and I didn't here a lot of people complaining about this.
Although I hate XP themes, you should probably add the manifest file by default, and everybody will be fine I think.

The only thing which I really find ugly is the background picture of the toolbar, but for me "every" background picture looks ugly on toolbars.

Well and if it just about icons, these could easily be replaced.

I do agree that it's about time for a new background. I don't have any personal problem with the toolbar buttons but that's just my personal preference.

What's the diff between Cocoa and the Chimera skin? Is that the name of the Chimera skin? I think lynchknot's brushed background works perfectly with the Chimera skin.

jsnj:

I just downloaded the Chimera skin from the K-M resources page. There is almost no difference, except that mine has menu icons and all three states instead of just two (the Chimera dead / cold are actually the same picture it looks like). Also Chimera is 24 pix and Cocoa is 32. smiling smiley

Here is a slight modification of the Chimera skin, with menu icons & bg from Cocoa, and the throbber I made for Cocoa, also with all three states.

Here is the default (black background) K-M throbber, only instead of in green--in grayscale. smiling smiley

Hmmm...

GIF Movie Gear says it has a black bg for that throbber... K-M shows gray...wierd.

Well, there isn't any reason for anyone to say K-Meleon is ugly looking. Not with the selection of skins that are available.

It's probably fairer to say... No two K-Meleons look alike.
The default background is kind of boring but it does work regardless of the system colour.

Here are the three skins I've created.
Simple
Traffic
Dots

I use the Simple Skin now. It's moving button states weren't so simple though, but they look good with any background you throw at them. There is also an enhanced set of ID_COMMAND icons for the menus.

To Andrew or anyone who may know.

How do new skins get to the resources-skins & throbbers section? There are a few here that many may like.

Thanks Wendell, and don't forget Trenton's contribution, (Dots goes especially well with a few winamp / GkrellM themes I use). smiling smiley

Latest batch...5 skins ported from MyIE2, no caps this time because I'm too tired to switch skins and icons and all that jazz, I may post some tomorrow:

Chim: Another Chimera knock-off, but man check out how many full buttons this toolbar has to choose from! I just had to include it. smiling smiley 24 & 16 pix. versions.

Mozilla - which is a much better grafics version of my attempt -- Blue Orbit -- If you liked that, or are a Phoenix fan, use this one instead! 20 & 36 pix. versions.

Marvilla Brights - Similar to Crystal and Fusion, but all round buttons. 24 & 16 pix. versions.

Phoenity - "Everyone's Favoritre Phoenix Theme" for K-Meleon, from MyIE2; confused yet? 24 & 16 pix. versions.

Realone Mac - RealOne buttons with Mac icons, nice feel. 24 & 16 pix. versions.

All skins have backgrounds and custom throbbers.

These skins are great guys, keep 'em coming smiling smiley

There is one thing that I would like to see in the skins, if possible. That is on the Back & Forward buttons the little "down" arrow that drops the menu down and lets you jump back/forward any number of pages. I know it's supported in Moz, Px, or just about any other browser out there, so I assume K-mel supports it also.

Could that be implemented in the skins? TIA

Cordman;

It took me a week until I found that feature.

Right-click the forward and back buttons, or hold the left-click,
to have the history menu appear.
