Opening wmv files

I am using k-Meleon 1.1 with XP-SP2. I do not have Windows Media Player installed on this machine. When I attempt to open http://www.sonnyradio.com/F15.wmv Windows Media Player installation screen comes up. I have attempted to adjust mimeTypes.rdf to make it always ask or to always save to disk, but nothing changes the results when I attempt to open a wmv file. The same thing happens if I attempt to open a wmv file on my machine. I have Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0 set as the default application for wmv files and it still attempts to start Windows Media Player.

Classic should/could have (ship with) a Netsacpe type plugin - try to find it and place it into K-Meleon's plugins directory.

Do not use ActiveX extension out of the box - that explicitely calls for WMP.
Classic activeX component has a long number - not sure how to get hold of it. If that is inside avtivesX.js instead of WMP activeX unique ID You system will take care that the right one is called. I will also have a look this evening.

I did the trick to, but still it ask me wether to open or save the wmv-file.
I just want to click it and it will open without the open/save prompt.
What can go wrong?

Thanks in advance!

You probably need plugin support installed.

At K-Meleon Extensions Page http://perso.orange.fr/jujuland46/JujuLand/KMES/KMES-Download.html#down_extensions
is an improved version. The ActiveX for Windows Media Playe extension will give You an extra item under Tools to activate activeX support. The way it is done is save technology - it whitelists media player.

Direct download http://perso.orange.fr/jujuland46/JujuLand/KMES/K-Ext110_ActiveX4WMP.exe

Second item from the top if You visit the extension page.

The link of the Scots example: http://www.sonnyradio.com/F15.wmv directly opens
the film when Media Player support or an alternative video plugin is installed.
