Hi,

Sorry if this question was answered before. I searched without success.

Is there a document describing how to use K-Meleon as a CD browser (like Ubuntu or The OpenCD)?

regards,
josue

K-Meleon only runs on Windows. Therefore Ubuntu is not possible. I don't know anything about OpenCD.

It would not be possible to change configuration on a CD. KM writes to the file prefs.js. Also you could not use the history plugin because you could not write to the history database. You could not add favorites or bookmarks either.

The bigger question is could you fit enough of Windows on a CD with room left for KM.

I think it is possible to run on a memory stick because you can write to them.

Search this info in CD browser sourceforge project:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdbrowserkit/

Look for my unofficial versions

K-Meleon1814forCD
K-Meleon1.0.1-mod-forCD
K-Meleon-ME1.7.12-mod-fromCD

on the K-Meleon page for Unofficial versions here :

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/UKmeleon

These versions run on Windows without writing
files to a harddisk, but have no cache and no history,
as nothing can be written on the CD as well.
They would also work on Linux with wine,
but to use wine (also possible with wine on the CD)
the configuration folder of wine would have to
be writable in the users home folder on the hard disk
or in the ram created by an uninstalled Linux live CD.
To use K-Meleon on Linux with the wine emulator,
have a look at my NX versions

K-Meleon-NX-1816 or K-Meleon-NX-1814

which you will also find at the same place.
I am writing this post in Linux.

Read the notes about the different versions carefully.
Consider especially that the Windows dlls mentioned there
have to be available in the system. If they are not present
there, they can be placed in the K-Meleon main folder.

P.S.:
The older CD versions should also still be quite safe,
when used only from CD without writing access.
