K-MeleonCCFME0.08b1 does not render the User content of many pges at CNET forums

i.e. the following CNET[forum/url] pages, the last two of which both did not render User content but showed some kind of error.

These are just a few of the pages that did not display properly. But there were many more that did not.

All pages displayed properly using KM 1.1.2 and IE 6.

It seems the more I use K-MeleonCCFME0.08b1 the more problems I find with it. I guess that's why it is still in Beta. But it usually it reders pages properly and fast.

So I guess it's back to using KM 1.1.2 for a while.

Hao's browser has probably activated blocks - right click on the tools icon (2 frome left), go to Options menu item for a close look.

Additionally it is a "ME" that means some functionality especially from chrome is traded for e. g. small footprint in RAM. It is also a beta but Your errors smell like block smiling smiley

My K-MeleonCCFME0.08b1 is configured a little differently.
This is it from a shortcut:

This is it from the actual K-Meleon.exe within the K-MeleonCCFME0.08b1 directory which is a bit more functional:

But I do not recall a Tools menu being available in even the original configuration. But I could be mistaken.

I thought perhaps you were refering to image/cookies block, but it is set to allow all images/Cookies.

Tools icon not menu ( picture of screwdriver and device to drive bolts ) in Options Bar. Privacy and Preferences items are also available under Options Menu.

p. s. CCF ME and Russian User Forum's K-Meleons have some menu items in Options that standart K-Meleons have e. g. in submenus of Edit.

K-Meleon.exe = version: 1.5.0.20 is afaik used in all the most recent beta issues. I do not think that there are two with the same number or that they have different functionallity.

You toogled the Preference below from false to true:

/* ---- THIS PREF can CHANGED TO 'FALSE' TO HIDE THE MENU BAR ---- */
user_pref("kmeleon.toolband.Menu.visibility", true);

You can do that with every K-Meleon (Advanced Preferences or some other, older methods) since 0.9 - K-Ninja and CCF ME have set to false by default.

And You hid e. g. Options Bar.

No. smiling smiley
You find the Preferences in submenu of Options. You can correct the settings there. If You are not succesful with that just create & start a new profile.

p. s. You almost never have to reinstall. Mostly You backup private data, create a new Profile and delete the old one if the new one behaves any better.
If the new profile is no good You sometimes have to reinstall.

Thanks guenter,

Deleting the profile.ini restored the browser to it's origional format, i.e. with image icons on the Toolbar instead of menu names. Strange thing though, when I create a new profile.ini the previous browser format that I needed to fix was back again. So I again deleted the profile.ini and now the browser is again back to it's origional format. Will not having a profile.ini cause any problems?

Thanks.

Profile.ini not is your problem. profile.ini only define where are created the KM profile for your user. With profile.ini KM profile is generated in K-Meleon folder in Profile subdir, without it KM profile is generated in your windows user profile folder.

When you deleted profile.ini K-Meleon created a new profile in your windows user profile (in 'Documents and settings' folder) and old local profile in K-M folder don't used any more. As guenter says the problem is a bad configuration or corrution in your local profile (\K-Meleon\Profile\ folder).

Also you can solved this problem deleted 'Profile' subfolder in K-Meleon folder.
This will generated a new local profile.
