I have been following these instructions of Brian's

but when I click on the newly created "Open in K-Meleon" or "Open link in K-Meleon in the right click context menu of IE nothing happens

These two sections in the guide are not clear to me which is where I think i have gone wrong.

7. For "Open &Link In K-Meleon", double click the "(Default)" value and set it as: {your K-Meleon directory (usually C:\Program Files\K-Meleon)}\link.html

8. Click on the "Open In &K-Meleon". Double click the "(Default)" value and set it as: {your K-Meleon directory (usually C:\Program Files\K-Meleon)}\open.html


What exactly do I enter into the default value for each with
C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\ being my K-M location?

Forgot to say I have entered
C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\link.html
and
C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\open.html

into the respective registry boxes

1) Please recreate the files link.html and open.html - the wiki rendered the source code for these files invalid. (Fixed)
2) Set your paths in double quotes:
"C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\link.html"
"C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\open.html"

Thankyou kko I have done as you suggested but still nothing happened.

Then I looked at the registry entries which the firefox extension Firefoxview has written and their paths are preceded by

without double quotes

So I wrote the value data path the same way for k-meleon et Voila !

Now I can open K-M from Maxthon and TheWorld browser as well as Internet explorer because what is written into IE's context menu also appears in the shell browsers.

I've noticed that when I open a link from IE into K-m that it opens in the current k-m tab.

Is there a way to get it to open in a new tab ?

(my k-m settings open everything within the browser in new tabs)

Thanks disrupted, I forgot to mention that I use ccfme, there isn't an option for that in ccfme prefs that I can see.

However I looked at the official K_M user-pref and pasted it into ccfme pref.js

user_pref("browser.link.open_external", 3);

and it now opens in new tab
