new version : K-Meleon-NX-18111

I have uploaded to Rapidshare a new updated no-Xul version :
K-Meleon-NX-18111 .
This is a simplified version of K-Meleon 1.x ,
usable in Linux together with wine , or also in Windows,
updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.11 using Gecko/20071129,
from Seamonkey 1.1.7.
Users of K-Meleon-NX-1818 and older are advised to change to the
new version for security reasons.
Look and feel are similar to the earlier 0.9 versions.
The NX No-chrome concept is used here. Thanks to Hao Jiang and Dorian.
The browser is very fast, because Xul is not used.
Note : Flashblock, Aggreg8 and other extensions are not included in this
no-chrome version. No autocomplete as it causes problems in Linux.
Ad-blocking by userContent.css and hostperm.1 .
Many useful search engines have been added, also some that were missing
in earlier versions.
The profiles folder will be created inside the K-Meleon main folder by default.
If, when in Linux, you want this folder inside the wine configuration directory
because of property rights problems, rename the file profile.ini
inside the K-Meleon main folder to for example profile.ini-renamed
before the first start.
Note :
This version works only if you have the files msvcp71.dll
and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder.
If you want to use Internet Explorer Favorites, mfc71.dll
would also be necessary.
If you need these dll's, look for them in the internet .
If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
A javascript button has been included. After changing permissions
for javascript, reload the page.
History must be deleted manually.

Thanks Fred for both the update to 1.02 and this nx18111.

There is one thing that puzzles me about the nx versions. In the versions of ccf (also no xul I understand) the address bar drop down menu works. I am not sure I am using the right words, but what I mean is that if I click the blue doohicky with the up and down arrowheads at the right end of the url address bar, then a drop down menu with the web sites I have visited appears--I can pick an item from that menu and go there. But with NX I put the cursor on the same blue doohicky and click and nothing happens--no menu at all drops down, even though I have typed in and visited some websites--not even a blank menu appears. I had thought this was because there was no xul, but then I noticed that it works fine in ccf.

Thanks to anyone who can help me understand.

All my variations which are determined to work in Linux
use a slightly different K-Meleon.exe made by Dorian,
which allows to use the address bar in Linux, but has
beeen stripped from autocomplete on the other side.
It should be possible to replace this K-Meleon.exe
by the ordinary one from a 1.0 version to get back
missing functions, if only Windows is used.
In Linux, an URL would have to be written into an
"Open File" text box (opened with Ctrl + O), if this
ordinary .exe would be used. Writing into the
address bar would not be possible.

Worked like a charm Fred (at least so far ;-) I used the kmeleon.exe from your 1.02 1.8.1.11.

Now I have another question. Is it possible for me to add Flashblock to this NX. Copying flashblock.jar from the chrome folder of 1.02 to the chrome folder of NX didn't seem to do it--maybe because there is no way to activate it from the preferences??? I can edit the config files if that would do it. If this can be done then NX would have exactly the feature set I want (at least for today ;-) Or is flashblock one of the things that requires Xul. Thanks again for the trouble you take with the program--it is a pleasure dealing with people who care about the quality of their software (all K-Meleonians).

Corrected.

As far as I know Flashblock needs a real Xul architecture.
This would ask for a complete chrome as for example 1.02 has
and would probably result in making the browser less snappy.
The configuration files would also have to be adapted
to allow setting up extensions included in chrome.

But there is another solution to control Flash.
You could adapt your userContent.css.
Go to Tools/Advanced Preferences/UserContent .
userContent.css will pop up.
Delete the first line on top.
Add there instead the following :

object[classid$=": D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"],
object[codebase*="swflash.cab"],
object[type="application/x-shockwave-flash"],
embed[type="application/x-shockwave-flash"],
embed[src$=".swf"]
{ -moz-binding: url("http://www.squarefree.com/turing/clickToView.xml#ctv"winking smiley;}

Save the file as userContent.css (not as text!)to its
origin and close the browser.

After restarting the browser, you should find
placeholders saying

flash [click to play]

By clicking on them, you could start the flash animations
that you want to see.(Javascript would have to be enabled !)
