K-Meleon Web Browser Forum
user_pref("kmeleon.display.maximized", true); does not seem to do the trick.
All K-Meleon are constructed/set to open to the display settings with which they were closed. So try to shut down the browser from a maximized Display. The normal result is open up maximized (or in any other display settings that You used when You quit K-Meleon).
p.s. - if not? Maybe inquire/report at CCF or K-Meleon bug Forum and see what answers You get and whether a bug for the 0.0.8 is known.
0.08 is a beta - so a bug is possible - and will be probably fixed when reported.

I have found that more often than not I have to open KM with out the Loader.exe loaded, open a window, drag the corners until maximized, close the window then repeat one time.
What also seems to work is to open a window, maximize by draging the corners until maximized. Then with out closing this window open a link in a new window and draging the corners until the new window is maximized. Then close the first window, then close the second window. This seems to work with both KM and IE.
Both these methods seem to work with the 08 beta also.
