This is only for test and preview purposes.

For people who're concerned about K-Meleon futures and want to test Gecko 1.9 engine, this is a test version to try.

All the credits go to Dorian for developing the K-Meleon for Gecko 1.9

Known issues:

sometime K-Meleon can't quite correctly. I would suggest all users report the condition when it can't quite correctly in this post and it will help Dorian to find the final cause. Thank you.

Hao

Thank you very much for the possibility to test K-Meleon 1.9 .
I have tried the downloaded version in Linux with Wine.
In the original status as you built it, it opens in Linux,
but has toolbar errors and crashes as soon as I try to go
to a slightly complex webpage.
I tried then to implement the architecture that I built
for my variation K-Meleon1.5a2-Linux-18112 and it worked
correctly up to now, with some minor flaws, as for example
Preferences Panel not available, which makes manual preferences
editing necessary. I will have to test this a little bit longer
to see if things are all satisfying.
Anyhow, I am very glad, that K-Meleon seems to be still usable in
Linux in times to come. I hope that this will also be possible
for Windows 98.
Thanks again to you for making this available and to Dorian
for his efforts.
Regards
Fred

desag2,

Why is your server so much faster than the original for this file? (I'm using an EDGE pcmcia radio modem and getting about 10kbps with your site?

Desga2,

China? I thought he was in Ann Arbor MI? But that would explain everything.

It's nice to know I was getting decent speeds from a European server!

Have looked at this 1.9 Gecko of Hao's. It took a while to get used to the layout. Things I liked:
the speed - very fast especially when flash is blocked.
memory usage - seems to be very low especially with multiple tabs opened

Things that need work:
Hard to tell since some of what may be a problem is that I am not familiar with Hoa's builds. There are some pages that do not show properly. The major failing is in the shutdown. Unless you close all the tabs leaving only about:blank apparently the program shuts down while trying to save the last page visited. This, in turn, does not allow K-M to remove itself from memory. It is not on the screen but it is still running in memory. Closing all the tabs then shutting it down lets it release itself from memory.

Is there a special trick to make XUL work in this release? Or will that be added by Dorian later?

IMHO Hao did a good job with this chrome.

About: is missing but You will find that about:config and about: plugins work.

As for the rest - K-Meleon CCF versions are based on Lua plugin - and use less chrome (means these chrome parts will probably not work because Hao did not intend them to work).

Hello guenter. Hope you are feeling better. Maria posted that you had a fall and were under the weather. Glad you are back.

Yes, with less chrome it really runs fast. I could not be sure if it was Hao's program, Ad Block, or the Gecko engine itself, but a page like this http://www.click2houston.com/health/15651020/detail.html simply would not appear correctly. I did have to go into about:config to change some parameters on proxy's and to toggle a value on the favicon to true in order to get them to appear and remain in the bookmarks. Even tested the bookmarks and iconcache.dat by transferring them from the 1.5.2 build 23 to see if they would be picked up. They were and they worked just fine. Hao uses the Obit multiple download system as an option. It may be that may explain why using the normal downloader is slower. Dorian seems to "see ahead" in his download so that while the user is clicking on all the ok's and things as to where to download, it is already doing so in the background. Hao's did not appear to do the same though it could have been the web sites I was downloading from. On the whole it is a good build.

Again, guenter, glad you are back and posting.

It also seems to be fine if loader.exe is running.

I don't know why but in the CCF 0.09 versions there is for the first time a problem of security with some https mails: e.g. webmail hogent (see image :
http://rs48l3.rapidshare.com/files/102454776/hogent.JPG).

Is there a way of solving this? How do I add an exception?

Thx a lot

In preference, you can disable flashblock, then restart

Works great for me on a direct internet connection, but on a proxy, something is wrong, i get an error with a cache denied. Keep up the good work.
