When does K-m exclude W98?

Hello all

When in the development pathway does K-meleon begin to exclude W98?

By this I mean, what K-m ver # begins to exceed W98's capabilities.

In other words, at what ver. # should I cease upgrading?

I am very happy with w98 at this time though I would go for XP if it were free (soon?), if it would run well on 64 or 128 mg ram, and if I could effectively lie to it and set an invalid dialup # as default so the damn thing couldn't phone home. I have found this works on a lot of pushy progs.

I am so happy with K-meleon as my default browser and I don't want to boff it up. As they say.

yours

douglas

@ koona

So far all versions are covered, I think. I am using version 1.5 alpha 1 and there is a second exe file called k-meleonW9x.exe for users using Win 98. This is early alpha code for the next official version of KM.

1.5a2 has also a w9x version.

The problem will probably come with Gecko 1.9.

When Gecko 1.8 is outdate for Win9x we could tried to change engine to KHTML (Safari engine) and after also we could tried to build a native version in linux with KHTML engine.

It's only an idea. smiling smiley

AOK I'm glad to hear that so far w98 is good enough.

Right now I'm using V1.1.3

I have K-m V 1.1.4 installed but not default, in its own Dir. until I have the time to secure my bookmarks, favorites, hotlist, and groups. I lost them all but the ie favorites once and don't want to repeat that.

So it sounds like I should download 1.5a, 1 or 2 eh?

I really like the graphics aspect of faststone but K-meleon is way better than anything else all round. I wish Amaya would move out of the doldrums they seem to be in for so long.

Bye for now

K-Meleon 1.5a1 and 1.5a2 are alpha releases, not intended for general use because they're still in early stages of development. For normal, day by day, use you should install K-Meleon 1.1.4, which is polished, stable and safe.

I'm using 1.1.4 myself both in WXP at home and in W98SE at my workplace (using an ancient PII).
