Assistance, please.

I'm running:

WindowsXP SP2; 1.4 GHz Athlon; 80 G hard drive

my K-meleon toolbar has disappeared. (the one with the back and foraward buttons, reload icon, home, etc)

I've done the following:
run several cleanup, antiviral, adware, spyware, and malware programs. This computer is clean.
Defragged, uninstalled K-meleon 1.15 and reinstalled it (x3) I did not remove the user profile.


Problem: I cannot get my toolbar open. On clicking the K-meleon icon on the quicklaunch bar, I get a box labeled:

C:\documents and settings\owner\application data\k-meleon\default\vc0ukpvh.slt\toolbars

with the message within the box which reads

could not open file

If I cleck on the "OK" button, K-meleon opens but no toolbar. Otherwise K-meleon runs fine.

So does IE7, but it has the toolbars.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

curious, there is no toolbars (.cfg, I suppose) under profile folder.

Have you tried to create a new profile to see is the problem is already here ?
Which version, and how has been installed this version? over a previous install?

Have not tried a new profile.
The version is 1.1.5 and was working fine until a couple of days ago when some malware appeared. Either the malware of the cleaning process did away with my toolbar. And I re-installed it twice more. And deleated the previous K-meleon 1.1.5 (I've been using K-meleon since the summer of 2006 on 2 computers).

It's possible that you are using 'profile.ini' file and this is lost.
Make a new profile.ini file in your K-Meleon folder. (Read this info about)

K-Meleon in Spanish

The fault seems to be somewhere in your existing profile.
I would try to backup my existing profile somewhere
to a safe place, delete (or even only rename) the existing
k-meleon folder containing the existing profile.
Restart the browser to let it create a new profile.
Your toolbars should be back then.
Finally copy your personal settings like bookmarks etc
back from your backed-up profile to the newly created profile
folder.
