K-Meleon Web Browser Forum
Keep checking this forum is one way. Depending on the version you are running, look in EDIT - PREFERENCES - K-MELEON PLUGINS for an item called "update checker". If you have that feature and it is checked then KM will on some schedule do the check for you.
K-M's 1.1.6. Gecko engine is based upon Seamonkey's. Whenever a new version of Seamonkey comes out, generally, Dorian, kko, and others upgrade K-M and will probably do so until that Gecko engine expires. K-M's 1.5 Gecko engine is likewise based (for now) on the same engine as K-M 1.1.6. It is the next iteration in K-M's evolution and when Dorian, kko, and others are ready, its engine will be that which underpins Firefox 3. So, a rule of thumb is always pay attention to the First Announcement in the General Forum. In the past you could go to http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/KMeleon15 to follow the development of 1.5, or if you see that Seamonkey has a new browser out, K-M will follow not long afterward.
K-Meleon will inform You.
All newer K-Meleon versions have an update checker-plugin that checks at SourceForge each week and tells You when updates have become available. The plugin is active by default.
Since Dorian has been core dev - official updates have come generally when GRE updates were needed ( GRE bug that affected K-Meleon - Not all Mozilla bugs can affect K-Meleon ) and when K-Meleon or GRE improvements were finished and tested.
p.s. For PPL that are too restless to wait a few days - You can extract compiled GREs from SeaMonkey builds (normally they work for K-Meleon also) - If You feel unsure about doing anything Yourself - PPL from this forum make updates for themselves and some make their private updates available for all via Forum threads.
