I'd like to add Scroogle SSL https://ssl.scroogle.org/ as my default search engine.

What would the string be?

Here's the URL for a Scroogle SSL search engine...

"https://ssl.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=TEST";

Leave off the quotes on both sides.

Alan,

Try this:for KM 1.5

Click on:

Tools/Web Search/Configure/Finding Websites//Search Engines

Look at the bottom and click on Add

Caption: Type in the name you wish to use.

Below is the URL information. For Scroogle type in:

URL: scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=

(Can't type in the full URL info because of rules here so make sure to add
http and //www info at the front of the above string:

Go back to Tools/Web Search

remove the click from the default engine which should say Google

Click on Configure/Web Search

Determine which search engines are displayed in the Web search menu:

Scroll down to Scroogle

Click on the Next tab to save your choice

Go back to Tools/Web Search and check to make sure Scroogle has the check mark,
then Click on Default to lock your choice in.

I had the plan Scroogle as my default search engine before this thread. It worked
fine. I tried the above. Now whenever searching with the SSL version K-Meleon freezes for several seconds with the mouse arrow turning into an hour glass during
that time. I am very puzzled by this behavior as Scroogle SSL does fine when used
from my address bar. Any suggestions? smiling smiley

Sam,

I don't use the SSL version as I only use it from the URL address bar with the Ctrl G option and it loads almost immediately?

scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=

Can't say what is going on with the SSL version.
