I would like to try MS silverlight 2.0 in k-meleon portable.
What dll files from the ms silverlight 2.0 (not earlier versions)
installation folder do I need to put in the plugins folder of k-meleon?
I am on windows XP SP2. Any help appreciated.

Type about: plugins in your url bar. If Silverlight 2.0 was installed it will show there. Silverlight 1.0 used npctrl.dll but this was never put in the plugins directory. Silverlight probably uses an association with browsers to know when to run.

However, I'd like to carry my k-meleon on a usb stick and
your solution implies that silverlight 2.0 be installed on
every PC that I want to use my portable k-meleon on.
This is the scenario I would like to avoid.
How? I do not know but am open to any suggestions.

I think that this isn't possible because Silverlight 2.0 must be installed in computer to use, can't be portable in a dll like a Flash plugin.

But i don't know much about how Silverlight work, only i know it's a Micro$oft plugin and this is enought reason for me for not install it.
