How to use underscored letter in sub-menus

I know that the underscored letter in a menu item can be use with the ALT key to obtain that menu. How do you use the underscored letter in items within that menu?

By holding down the ALT key you can navigate to the next underscored letter in the submenu. When it's highlighted you press ENTER to activate it.

Example: ALT+T opens the 'Tools' menu. ALT+M selects 'Mail and News'. ALT+M selects 'Read Mail'.

@ Kleon

GREAT! I was getting nowhere because I was releasing the ALT key. I see I must continue to hold it down. I seldom use the keys, as I prefer the mouse, but I needed to answer a question for another user.

Thanks
