@ foobarly

OK, I have succeeded to update this variation with
Gecko 1.9.1.5pre/20091013 from Seamonkey Tinderbox.

Download K-Meleon-SM2pre from

http://two.xthost.info/eichhein4/K-Meleon-SM2pre.zip

Read the notes in the new thread about K-Meleon-SM2pre.
Linux users need the dlls that I mention there.

Regards

Fred

To Fred and @ll:

Now that Seamonkey 2.0 has a release candidate, I tried again to replicate the procedure indicated last June 1st (above) -- this time using a freshly downloaded K-Meleon-SM2a3 package (from XTHost) and the latest "SeaMonkey Setup 2.0 RC 1.exe" (from www.seamonkey-project.org), extracted with the latest Universal Extractor -- but unfortunately got exactly the same results as before (window opens, menus look operational, but nothing else).

I wish someone would be able to produce a working version with this files, since it has been my default K-Meleon for the better part of the current year. Any guidance dearly appreciated. Thanks,

a second release candidate version of Seamonkey 2.0 is available here. final release of SM 2.0 is due out on October 27, the same day as Firefox 3.0.15 and 3.5.4.

I might try out this KM variation Fred made that has gecko 1.9.1.x engine. It just might prevent me from leaving K-meleon altogether.

tested the latest KM-SM2 and it's pretty good.

too bad the Ctrl+T hotkey combination does not work when trying to open new tabs in KM-SM2 variation which other browsers like FF/SM/Opera/IE/Chrome/Safari have.

can you try to implement the Ctrl+T command in the next release of KM-SM2, Fred?

You can easily add this shortcut yourself.
Close the browser first.
Go to your folder Profile, which is by default
inside your K-Meleon main folder.
Inside its random made subfolder will be a file accel.cfg.
Open it in Notepad and at the bottom of
the file add the line :

CTRL T = ID_NEW_TAB

and save the file in Notepad in the
menu "File" with "Save".
Don't use "Save as" because this would
at the ending .txt to the file automatically,
and the file would not work anymore.
After a Browser restart, the shortcut
should be working.

Thanks, Fred. got the Ctrl+T hotkey combo working in K-meleon-SM2.

though it would be nice to also modify the "New tab" menu command on the File Menu and change it to read "New Tab Ctrl+T"
ALL the other web browsers like IE/Opera/SM/Firefox/Chrome not only shows the New tab command on the File menu, but also shows the Ctrl+T hotkey shortcut next to the New Tab command.

To add the description of the shortcut in the menu "File"
close the browser and look for another file "accel.cfg"
which you will find in then subfolder /defaults/settings .
Open this file in Notepad as before and at the bottom of
the file add the line :

CTRL T = ID_NEW_TAB

as before in the other file "accel.cfg"
and save the file in Notepad in the
menu "File" with "Save".
Don't use "Save as" because this would again
add the ending .txt to the file automatically,
and the file would not work anymore.
After a Browser restart, the description of the shortcut
should be present in the menu "File",

By the way for new readers of this older thread :

The variation updated to the latest Gecko is called
K-Meleon-SM2pre, and can be downloaded here :

Not yet, but you can copy and paste the files that you
changed yourself over to the newer version.
