Why won't K-meleon terminate when closed?
Date: January 16, 2009 01:52AM

A funny thing happens:
Every time i close K-meleon and try to restart again it won't start..
I just look in the task manager and found that even closed K-meleon.exe keeps on running in task manager. The only way to start a new sesion is to end the program from task manager. After that K-meleon starts happly..

Any ideias..??? Could be something missing in the "Components folder"?? some damaged file..?
I am running Windows Server 2000..

Thank you!!

Yes it's, this happend when you profile is corrupted or you lost/damaged some file in components.
Try with a new profile or reinstall components folder.

You are experimenting already? grinning smiley

Normally an unstable version, JavaScript error in chrome, or an error in componets...

If You are experimenting with K-Meleon for GRE 1.9.X?
They are alpha. Some of them are not very stable.

If You are slimming chromes
Have look into the JavaScript error console. Maybe You find a fix

If You are trying to slim the components folder?
It contains 2 *.dat files - if You have deleted any files delete the 2 dat too.
So that K-Meleon creates new one that work well with the rest.

I double checked and i can replicate the problem only after i start slimimg the components problem ..so the problem but be in the components folder..

Ps:yeah i allready started to experiment and I tell you what..the components folder it's a bitch to slim..But is going greate..Right now my components folder is like 7.50 MB...lots of stuff gone...But blimey...this is a large one...
I could have removed a lot more but i want to keep accesing the about:config
i know it can be done the other way but the other users...There about 144 files in there..

AFAIK You will find info for a slimmer list via this link. It is outdated but implements mostly the layout-engine for applications that need it. It does the rendering but a safe browser needs more.

Here`s a list with the stuff i deleted from the components folder

Is full with memos so i can remember later why i deleted them..
If you see something that rings a bell on why K-meleon does not terminate and keep on running in task manager even after is closed just let me know..

The "ok files" means: deleted without any problems, the browser is still working..

AFAIK xpt make the dll scriptable. Redundant?

For much of K-Meleon You are right many are, but it would hurt extensions that want to use JavaScript/XUL.

Without mimetype.xpt no mimetypes editor. That is why I found it.

The Bell: If You deleted a wrong XPT it will throw a JavaScript related error, have a look into console while You do this slimming! Using the console is especially vital when You slim chromes or try to get FFox extensions to work.

You found out a lot. I also know some of the components.
Necko is Mozilla's network component. It can be used as standalone for other apps.
I found the project pages via Google.

You deleted the windows media player support.
nsIMozAxPlugin.xpt etc.

For some files You can find out what they are when You look into chrome.
Pipnss, Pippki security pwd, certificates.
