I have just finished slimming down a KMLITE..

I decided to call it Gorilla`s KMLite..because is ugly like a gorilla but at the same time is strong and efficient...

It has a very minimalistic apeareance is extremly lite 5.89 MB extracted on the hard disk...

The installer is 4.82 MB.

Where can i upload it so you guys can download it and have fun with it..??

I am gonna write a lot more on the subject tommorow..Right now i need to take some sleep as i am really bushed...

You can create a count easily in XT Host server to upload it. Or send me by mail and I'll upload to my web space.

Yeah i was thinking about it but ,you see...

And it would not be fair not to recognize his work ,,,,I do not know... If That`s ok with him .....I have no problem with avoiding the KMLite name..

Also it would not be fair not to recongnize your work as well...because you guys helped me with directions and sugestions as well ..I don`t know.... i am not good at ,,Politically correct" stuff

Awright...Tough i do not think it would matter too much since the name of the browser is coded in the exe..Kmlight will be...

I allready reshacked the dialogs and clean out each and every icon in the dll's..

I also replaced the icons in k-meleon exe with only one small icon in order so save space and increase the speed..

You sure have all dirty hacks that were ever tried :O

Yup..learned'em long time ago back in the neowin and bold fortune's forum..Tweaking slimming modifing..Compared with windows K-meleon is a charm..
No wpf to be disabled no wga and stuff..

Is only that i am not familiar with K-meleon..Once i will understend the way it works..

K-M truly is a charm.
I learned means here in this forum.

I have not placed it yet..i am still waiting to be sent the email adress...

And anyway i could no do it now,,,I am at work..Night shift...
As soon as i finish i will be uploading it...If i am not wrong desga said something about a email adress...So i am still waiting for him to upload it on his server..If i rapid share it as a free user it will not be possibile to be downloaded more than 10 times...That is if the mods do not delete it for some reason...before could be actually downloaded

Ok, i sent the email to desga and now it is up to him to upload it on his server.

It took me a while untill i was able to make an installer (I used a free version)


Now, few words about this Kmlite:

I could not find a way to load automatically the text based skin..But it does have a skin...




I was not able to find a way around it yet,,,

It works perfectly on my Windows Server 2000, Windows Home XP and windows XP professional.

This is a ultra trimmed version slimmed down to the max.

My only concern it was to slimm it down as much as possibile while keeping the control panel active.

Regarding the control panel...

One of the reasons it took me all day to upload it it was that while removing files out of the K-meleon, in the process somehow, The ,,"OK" button has lost it`s letters so the ok button it apeares grayed...BUT IT IS STILL WORKING..

I GAVE UP AT FINDING THE SOLUTION AS IT WAS NOT CRITICAL...

THE kmeleon is working...

Ps: if you guys can improve it, go for it !!

Also i would like to know what else can I improve in it.Remember i am not a DEV ,nor a professional guy,and this it was my first try in slimming K-meleon..

I am sure i will get better...with your help!

As far as i know it works from USB as well ...Or at leas it works from my Sandisk

Just remember about manually selecting the skin from the control panel ..

or F2...

Where is profile? On C or on your USB?

place empty or real profile.ini in %program files%/K-Meleon/ else profiles is in %apdata%

Get desgas2 hacked xpcom.

UPX K-Meleon 1.5 exe and the plugins to get 1.5's extended KM-prefs funktionality. :B

Has no skin. Use a text based skin, nix-posted today - or attached Mini for skin.

My pros: I like that I can still set a local proxy
(I like to browse with proxomitron)!

My cons: If I go to advanced prefs|content filters
and try to enable flashblock, it does not work.
The checkmark does not stick! Yes, I did click the
grayed out ok button, restart etc. Nothing worked.

Bottom line, it is excellent for a first public offering!

The way I got my profile in the kmlite folder
was to use uniextract to extract the files from
gorilla.msi, then put a profile.ini text file
in the main folder with the entries:

[Profile]
path=Profiles
isrelative=1

Then create a new folder Profiles in the kmlite folder.
And start kmlite.

But what i did it was not a perfect Job...Because i can not find detailed informations about files and what each and every of them was supposed to do..

If you look inside of embed.jar you will see just how much has been removed.I could have gone even lower than that but i set my mind to keep the CONTROL PANEL

Also IF YOU DOUBLE CLICK ON THE BAR A NEW TAB IS OPENED DOUBLE CLICK ON THE TAB AND IS CLOSED

It took me one month of trial and error working on Chrome and especially on embed.jar ..One month working like 4 hours each day.. That`s a lot ...No really ,That`s a lot when you are working in the dark without any informations..

Because you have to relay on trial and error..

DElete this and see what it does not work anymore,,,
Write it down ,Note what feature is not working anymore how does the browser acts ..and next time avoid it..

Now imagine..What the Devs could do if they would set the mind to it..

Why used you KMLite (almost 1.0 instead the last 1.1.2 version?) for your Gorilla (KMLight) instead an official version?
(SeaMonkey v1.1.11 / Gecko v1.8.1.17 is old Gecko version with important and dangerous security holes/bugs, why don't use the last SeaMonkey v1.1.14 / Gecko v1.8.1.19 and official K-Meleon 1.5.2)

K-Meleon in Spanish

pref("kmeleon.general.skinsCurrent", "Phoenity"); is altered to Your skin's name in in: ./program files/K-Meleon/defaults/prefs/kmeleon.js - default settings are there.

So: pref("kmeleon.general.skinsCurrent", "textonly");
Not: pref("kmeleon.general.skinsCurrent", "Kronos");

Look also into other *.js at this location. Look in all files in folder
./program files/K-Meleon/defaults/. They govern all new setups and new profiles.
They also customize private setups.

I fixed some things ( at some expense of bulk about: plugins, netError... & No I am not doing for You, but for future mini chromes, plus to relearn things I lost between November 2007 and March 2008 ).

Hope You have a calm night shift. I @ home, hacking chrome & listening to Greek music.
