How to pro-long the K-Meleon seeking time?

"Page Load Error"

That is the thing that I got many times I use K-Meleon, when trying to get access to some slow sites.

On the same PC, I have other browsers.

The same time K-Meleon is giving me the "Page Load Error", the other browsers (Safari,Chrome, IE) successfully access those slow sites.

What I found is that the browsers which can access slow sites has a longer "seeking and waiting time" ----- that is, when I typed in an URL and then press <enter>, those browsers has the patience to wait.

My copy of K-Meleon seems to not be so patient.

So, what I am asking for is some command or setting that I can do in (about:config) that can stretch out the seeking and waiting time for K-Meleon.

Can you help?

Thanks !!!!

I did a search on the Net, and come up with two possible solutions, but I am not sure, so ....

1. network.http.connect.timeout

2. network.http.request.timeout

My question is, the network.http.connect.timeout isn't on the list. How do I add it in?

Thank you all in advance !!

So I added in both the above on the about:config thingy.

And I power down the PC, and power it back up.

Try using K-Meleon to access that site, still give me the error.

Try other browsers, still ok.

You add missing prefs via:

Right click & add via menu of about : config or write into used prefs.js or user.js

But I do not think that it helps here.

look at bug at network.http.*.timeout

If I understand correctly some prefs stopped to exist during K-Meleon 0.7-0.8 time?

Many thanks for the info, Guenter !!

I'll take a look at that, but in the meantime, K-Meleon still gives me the "The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply." thingy even when other browsers can get to the same slow site.

Can you post the link to the web page for test it?

If the page have a lot of Javascript code you can try with pref:

dom.max_script_run_time

K-Meleon in Spanish

Yes, good for script on older PC.

Link would help to exclude that it is PC settings or provider .... but more general.

p.s. A method that I use. Click again shortly after trying to connect.
The first does the DNS resolution the second does the contact with the page.

BTW. My question: DNS is done by OS - svhost or other process hiding what is doing it. Do other browsers add different settings to registry?
