I already use it and I think I'll never come back to XP

I don't have the right cpu for hardware virtual stuff. With Microsoft, you always need a newer computer for each new operating system.

Micro$oft says that Windows 7 work in same computer requeriments that Windows Vista.
Tested someone K-Meleon in this Windows 7 (RC)? Work K-Meleon fine?

Windows 7 won't run on my Pentium III Mobile chip equiped laptop. XP Pro sp3 is the Windows OS limit for me.

I know of people that hacked it to where it will load on a computer using only 256mb or RAM. It bypasses its requirements check.

Yes, it works as in XP
Actually, I have no problems with the software and W7 — everything works fine and fast as it was in XP, I have no performance hits even in the games (especially with the new nVidia driver). Also the Virtual XP Mode is the good solution if you need a program having troubles with Seven, though I think I'll use VirtualBox instead, if such situation ever happens

Also there is no bug with freezing K-Meleon 1.5.2 when tabbar is full under Vista

Vista had some problems to set K-Meleon as default browser.
Are you tried to unistall IE in Windows 7? I read that this have an option but not uninstall IE really, only hide IE shortcuts/icons and disable it as default browser.

I've set it as default browser when i installed it and I have no problems with that - all links are opened in K-Meleon and so on.
I haven't tried to uninstall IE because I'm not a some kind of paranoid and I don't care about it - I just use what I want I've read that uninstalling IE will also remove iexplore.exe leaving only engine that can be used by other apps.

I hate Vista but I think 7 is cool.

Is definitely better than Vista. But has the Vista fault of hiding settings from me (user).

What settings are hidden from you?
gpedit, services, regedit, computer management and other administrative tools are almost in the same places as it was in XP

Sad news then. I heard it was a good Vista wash OS, but if it hides on that level (as in WinXP wasn't still enough...) I'll still use Win2k... until some day for gaming.

Almost as as Vista.
Gave me cannot find *.dll during recompilation of Mozilla 1.8.1.21 GRE with Visual Express 2005 after downloading and installing the needed redistributable! >-(



When I download a whole hogwash of updates for components that I need to build and try to install them - 7's Wizard tells me "You must do that from add remove windows components panel" where they are not offered to add or remove. :O

7 is free now and it is test phase now. And I do not look into the mouth of a gift horse. Windows NT/XP... has IMHO a more modern concept than the NIX systems that are all the rage now.

But I am sure not having wizards that tell me crap that does not work after I pay.
I already have Vista that does not work. And it was forced at me in a bundle.

I know I said I hated it and everything but I had to at least give it a shot . I really like that superbar but if you have quicklaunch icons and open up one it covers all the others. I installed a dock up top now so that fixed that lol. I might not keep it very long but its something different I guess.

p.s. IMHO RE-compiling is something users can try to learn alone.
With some discipline they can cook old existing recipes step by step.
Perhaps making an improvement or customizing what is in reach.


And when we checked all, & find we still have error... and can not help each other then IHMO we can ask a dev for help.
