copy and paste what? text in message body or images.. i think you can do that in gmail compose.. i'm not sure i understand.

if you're experiencing differences using gmail in kmeleon compared to other browsers, try changing the useragent
itools menu>useragent>select firefox

He perhaps wants to talk about mailing selected text ?

In this case, you just need to set your default to gmail, and then, when marking some text in a page, right-click 'Selected Text' > 'Send by mail' or something like that.

Mark text that activates (on right click) chose "copy" that activates (on right click) "paste"
(the menus are context sensitive / they show what You can do at the moment).

Some Java heavy pages disturb the context sensitive right click menus.
In this case You have go to Edit Menu and do it copy&paste from there.

okay let me see if I can clarify: in any other browser I have tried one selects "copy" and then right clicks in the body of an email ... and low and behold there is a option to "paste".

When I right click in K-Meleon there is no paste option ... where is the paste option?

In most cases I am interested in sending URLs in the body of an email

oh i think i understand now..sory. in k-meleon the copy/paste text options only appear on input boxes..if it isn't an input box, right-click will just open the regular page context..to ensure you get text context, just select any text on the page..even one character and when that text is highlighted and you right click, copy and paste will popup normally.

sometimes the text selection context doesn't appear on what appears to be regular input box..like web 2.0 compose because they are html richtext type so you hust have to select some text first.

It's because Opera is your default browser instead of K-Meleon.
Set K-Meleon as your default browser (F2) and test again.

Nice try, but no cigar. Opera has never been my default browser even though I had it installed. Methinks it K-Meleon must have found it because it contained the only software based email client. K-Meleon or Google Chrome have been my only default browsers for quite some time. It does appear that web-based email will not work here. I hope I am wrong.

I have uninstalled the Opera browser, and now it still seeks an external program

Am I correct in assuming that K-Meleon fans do not use gmail?

For me, sure, I prefer Thunderbird:cool:

Are you sure you have set the mail client in K-Meleon :

Tools > Mail & News > Set the mail Client
Just enter something like http : // www.gmail.com/ .....

try this

download and merge this registry key:
http://kmeleon.swiftfree.net/tests/gmailclienttest.reg
then go to control panel>internet options and select the programs tab, under mail>drop down menu..select gmail.com..click ok

if it's still not working, try this:

@disrupted,

my old brain was a little tired, and I just realize this night that it was probably mailto protocol which was miss-configured.

You have been quicker, as always ...

I have a related but dissimilar issue on copy & paste in K-M 1.5.3 release.

In many forums, people enclose links/url's and file dscriptions in a text box.
When I try to select such text with a mouse in K-M. 1.5.3 , it does not get copied ie cannot paste such text to say Notepad or Word etc.

If I open same webpage in IE7 , the copy/paste works as normal.

Has something changed in this v1.5.3 ?

Frank

sorry i forgot to check the link and appears gattach is now called affixa..you can download affixa from there:
http://www.affixa.com/
if you prefer the older gattach(seems to be better in terms of freeware):
http://wareseeker.com/download/gattach-1.2008.7.7.rar/444620

frank, can you provide a tester forum link where you have that problem..i tested with 2 forums but i could copy/paste there as usual. thanks.

I thank you very much disrupted. I now am able to use my gmail for cutting and pasting, even URLs on my K-Meleon browser with the assistance of Affixa

K-Meleon forum is powered by Phorum.
