1.) desga2 builds installer.

2.) disrupted hosts update on new extension page.

3.) I made GRE, Lets hope it works. http://rapidshare.com/files/245282405/1.1.17.7z.html
If it does. It is my gift for the new page.

4.) see http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?2,92491,93748#msg-93748
for build details and usage conditions

This is updated from SEAMMONKEY_1_1_17_RELEASE branch and the build's .mozconfig is more similar to Dorian's. But I use free tools so I can not build all params identical to his.

Intended differences:

I used these to optimize a little differently:

ac_add_options --enable-optimize='-O2,-GL'
LDFLAGS='-LTCG -OPT:REF -OPT:ICF'
AR_FLAGS='-LTCG'

And I tried to build for portable:

ac_add_options --with-user-appdir=""

Since I had to change hardware (damaged) and thanks to the new board peculiarities there are unpredictable bsods coming from this hardware config, oh, god, I wait for the update.

If my build finishes before I go to work. We can have a VC7.1 Toolkit build of the 1.1.17 GRE in this thread by 16.30 h Central European Time. Else tommorow after
06.00 h. It will be usable for PPL that know to update themselves or for update builders.

More info and in my previous post in this thread about SM-RC.

Some others can IMHO also build a GRE, for which You do not need to buy a compiler. Free tools will do.

Else You can download a original SeaMonkey Build & extract the needed files.
That will slow K-Meleon by a mariginal 18% but give You enhanced security right away.

Guenter,

The best non-Dorian update technology to my mind has been Desga2's elegant updates.

Yes desga2's (first done that way by Brielle, who seems to have passed on her knowledge, and though she is not active now my thanks go to her too!) update tech is just great. I fought in vain with re-making their installer, when I ran out of time I created a zip.sad smiley

p.s. GRE update files - I finished compilation during work - so boss has sort of sponsored K-Meleon (though he does not know tongue sticking out smiley ).
http://rapidshare.com/files/247971410/Update_1.1.17gre.7z.html (seamonkey nr. 1.1.17 AFAIK). MD5: 586C55751AB832FF10F8528816C6BE81

It includes my mozconfig. I cannot build like Dorian since I build with free Tools. But I tried to build as close to what little I know about his builds - as I could.

As always: check for virus.

And any that do an update by hand, please make sure that You read and understand desga2's update recipe. And best update a spare install first - begfore You apply that to a productive version.

Guenter,

Not big enough and no big deal. I'll wait happily. As I recall, nothing was promised until next week any how and that is more than soon enough for my tastes.

But, much thanks for the offer.

ok - I fear my old P III online machine is down for good. The old lan card broke & replacement did not take over. Guess I have to buy new card or PC on Monday.

Guenter,

Ouch! My wife's ancient Dell Inspirion laptop (running W98se) recently showed signs of dying, so I went out and got a tiny Acer Aspire One (10 inch screen) and she loves it. Runs XP Home, but everything works well. Had to buy an external USB burner for backup and need to figure out how to use an external monitor, but that aside, it was more than reasonable as a Netbook, which had me scared, but it is truly a real computer. Wouldn't want to try and do Graphic Design image intensive stuff on it, but for everything else it is just fine.
