Hello,
at my desktop computer I can search from the address bar even if I only enter one word. On the notebook I only get "http://test/"; for "test". Which option do I need to change, so I get "http://www.google.de/search?q=test"; just like on the desktop?
Um, white text on white ground or is there a hint on that webpage?
Tools -> Web Search -> Configure... -> In URL Bar tab, check the option in "Keyword Autosearch" group.

there was a snapshot with tutorial that must have got lost in cyberspace
go to prefernces. finding websites>urlbar tab
when a url fails to load consult a search engine (select)
select google from dropdown box

That checkbox was already checked and Google is selected in the drop down list. And it works if I enter more than one word, but doesn't if there's only one searchword.
Any more things I can try/check?
This work fine to me to search one word.
What K-Meleon version are you using and what Windows version?
It's posible that you have defined some nick in Bookmarks identical to the word searched, are you tried with different words?

On another computer it works for me as well, but not on this particular one. But I don't know what's different on this one.
K-M 1.5.3 and Windows XP SP3 + updates.
No nick with that word defined, tried it with different words (I stumple upon this problem every day or every other day when I try to search for s.th. "new").
