Ctrl-C (copy) not working
Posted by: spremino

Hello,

Ctrl-C does not work to copy text. Ctrl-V, Ctrl-Z, etc. behave as expected.

Any hint?

Software:
Windows XP SP3
K-meleon 1.5.3

Thanks

No idea what causes the error - Strg c works for me, almost the same K-Meleon and OS.
Only difference mine is all German not en-US and it-IT mixed.
But mixing should not cause a problem. It does not if I use English menue for K-Meleon.

Did You change user defined accel.cfg?
Can the master accel.cfg in defaults/settings be damaged or changed?

Yes, I just added:

CTRL T = ID_NEW_TAB

Everything else was commented out.

master accel.cfg had the this accelerator commented out:

#CTRL C = ID_EDIT_COPY

I removed the leading # and restarted K-meleon, but Ctrl-C is still not working.

Anyway, Edit menu and popup menus show Copy is bound to Ctrl-C, and when I select it using mouse, copying is correctly performed.

The 'CRTL + C' in KM's file is not needed. 'CRTL + C' is a Windows System key. See here.
http://two.xthost.info/kmeleon/lizard/commands.html#l_defaccel

The main question to ask is whether 'CRTL + C' is working outside of KM.

This is an accelerator already defined by default in accel.cfg file (\K-Meleon\defaults\settings)

%ifplugin tabs
CTRL T = ID_NEW_TAB
%endif

JamesD is right CTRL+C, CTRL+V, etc. are commented in KM accelerators file because are a Windows system accelerators defined.

Where this accelerators not work, in some specific website in all websites, in URL address bar?
Work if you use the right click context menu Copy option?

Ctrl-C does not work anywhere in K-Meleon, but it works in other applications. Copying by means of context menu does work.

Ctrl-V works fine.

I've added this line:

CTRL C = ID_EDIT_COPY

to user's accel.cfg and now Ctrl-C is working.

It could be that master accel.cfg is not being read?

If master file is not read all accels would not work.

Probably can break. But would be on one PC or install - else Forum would have many complaints about accel not working.

As I said previously, customizing user's accel.cfg fixed the issue.

However, I'm noticing that ID_EDIT_COPY does not work when in address bar. Ctrl-V works everywhere.

Any hint?
