Favicons in bookmarks &/or personal toolbar.

Does anyone know why when you make a bookmark that sometimes the favicon appears & is visible in the extreme left of the URL box & yet sometimes is just the generic orange star on a blue page background?
This isn't that big a deal but it makes life easier for the personal toolbar favicons. For instance: Wikipedia is fine & the 'W' favicon is there, but You Tube is just the star/page icon. This means I have to write more behind the favicon so I know what is what. This then means that it reduces the amount of bookmarks on the personal bar.
I just wondered if I had done something inadvertently to stop them rendering.

AFAIK K-Meleon only can use the favicons of pages that properly reference the favicon with their html code.
If the icons are grabbed they are stored in in a special icons cache.
And they are associated/shown with links in bookmarks.html.
Nothing You can do about it.

OK, thanks for the information. It seems strange that SeaMonkey (2.0 RC1) can render You Tube's favicon though & K-Meleon can't.

Am not sure, on my win98 can't see favicons in the toolbar folder, but I do see the youtube-icon in the normal hotlist folder.
perhaps click F2/GUI and look if at the right side both boxes for favicons are checked... And type "about:config" in the adress bar, then favicon in the filter line...
BTW, which gecko-version do you have? (Help/About)
Another setting that may have influence, again not sure at all, but worth trying ;-)
F2/Privacy.../Cache
There's a checkmark to "cache website icons on disk"
