After almost two years since the last DVD version 5.1
the live DVD Knoppix 6.2 has been released.
Version 6.1 was only available as an add-on to a
Linux magazine and could not be downloaded.
The Knoppix 6.2 DVD contains Gnome as well as KDE and
a great number of applications working with these
window managers. It is a show-case of Linux programs.
There is a script included to install the distro
on a USB stick of 4 or better more Gb.
There is also a Knoppix Live CD downloadable,
faster, but with fewer programs of course.

There are also several other new distros, which follow
the half year release cycle downloadable now, as
Suse 11.2 , Fedora 12 , Ubuntu 9.10 Koala and its
derivatives Kubuntu and Xubuntu, Linux Mint 8 (RC),
Mandriva 2010, PC Linos 2009.2 , Mepis 8.0.12 ,
just to mention the biggest ones .
These distros come usually as Live CDs, and are installable,
if they become the first choice.
