I am in search of the lightest firewalls regardless of when made.
I do not care if they are still being developed. Also I would
like to know if an older version of one still being developed is
lighter than the current version. Also of interest are the
lightest of the old and new HIPS programs such as System Safety
Monitor. I know there are many more other than SSM.
I have heard there are ones better than SSM but have not tried
any.

Waitng to try ANY and ALL recommendations. :B

I use PrivateFirewall, it's easy to use and easy on resources and free !

I've tried most FW's but I'm really happy with this one - check it out.

There is also a very small but smart app called SnoopFree which I have used for a long time - it takes no space, is discreet but effective. However it doesn't seem to be in development anymore but check it out anyway. (The site is a bit ott.)

I used to have Comodo, but it is tough to delete it since it does not have uninstall option. You have to have special script for it.
Guys at Online Armor once made a giveaway OA for free for 1 year. I downloaded it but could not installed it because of some error.
So I went to Outpost.

Only this that is bugging me is that I have to set option to allow and block every time. I can't set it to permanent (nor any other firewall I had).

Otherwise, I am satisfied with it.

In case this may help someone I uninstalled Comodo easily with RevoUninstaller.

New version or old? Were there any leftovers?

The "old" version, that is to say the firewall-only version, not the version with the AV - and no, nothing left over !!!
