browserG is a gecko based browser but comes wrapped in java. it's similar to flock as it focuses on social networking sites with additional features for im clients like yahoo etc. can be very useful as portable browser/messenger since it's standalone and should work on any os as long as java runtime is installed.
bubbles is a cross between a bookmarks organiser and a web-enabled active desktop.
it may not appeal to many but can be handy to check websites quickly without having to bother with an actual interface. it uses ie engine obviously, but in its case, it's justified because when checking sites on the fly like that you want it to run right away.
the download link at freeware files is old and that version will only work on 9x.. for the latest bubbles(xp, vista):

jobee is a nice podcast feeder/radio/tv streamer with many features. it doesn't have the best of interfaces but this can be overlooked by its features and the very good audio engine. very small footprint for what it can do.

I don't like DAEMON Tools (have spyware and adware), you can use this other freeware instead;
MagicDisc
VirtualCloneDrive

so i bumped into this strange image format (.mei), not finding a handler on the regular software websites and desperate to open it, and since the file was on a japanese site; i turned to vector.co.jp to find a program for it.. search turned up with one application so not much choice.
the meiplayer was truly something i've never seen before.. an odd interface.. with a choice of not so different skins:
obviously the author is a big anime fan
besides being an image viewer for mei and another unknown eri format, it can also play wav and mio audio files.. aswell as avi videos.. perfect for your nostalgia anime collection.
it can also play any number of image/audio/video formats using susie and winamp plugins
http://www.entis.jp/eri/doc/plugin_help.html
but wait there's more..whilst fiddling with it, it popped a fully-functional mini ieshell browser!
another example of i wanna be everything image viewer.. and this, i have to admit; must be the wackiest browser/player/viewer i've ever seen
if anyone's interested in this kind of crap (or ever needs to open a mei or eri image)
http://www.entis.jp/eri/player/index.html
n.b: the mei format turned out to be a catalogue of images to produce a slideshow or animation.. sorta like gifs

nice find on darkroom.. really like it, brings back nice monochrome memories
i found a great mp3 player uses its own engine, many features with 18 band graphic-equaliser.. supports few other formats, interface has slight redraw problems but truly one of the best engines.. could very well be the holy grail of mp3 players.
lilith audio player:
http://www.project9k.jp/main/download.htm
comes with a beautiful set of audio icons inside the exe
also a nice and quite challenging puzzle game, great for children.. makes them use their heads instead of shooting crap
magical jewelry(sic)

the final emotion!!(right-click. save target as)

Nice find this newly updated engine!
1.)Total: 10202.2ms +/- 3.6% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/2008 Lunascape/4.9.9.100
2.)Total: 9783.2ms +/- 0.8% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko K-Meleon/1.6 (file version 1.6.0.1)
The engine is getting faster and so is K-Meleon. 3 was done a while ago with an older GRE.
3.)Total: 14742.2ms +/- 1.2% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) K-Meleon/1.6.a

Guenter, what about Opera, FF and Chrome? How do they compare to Lunascape?

trust-no-exe, erunt and script sentry are 3 programs i'd never run windows without.. they should be on every win installation and i think even more important than an antivirus.
in addition to them, there's another tool to replace wscript.exe,it intercepts scripts with a warning message
working along with script sentry, it's like having a double layer of protection against scripts.
it seems to have been removed from the author's site
http://angeliux.scot.sk/
so i uploaded it there:
http://necb.bizhat.com/kmeleon/wscript.7z
to install, you must rename the original wscript in system32 folder to
wscriptw.exe
extract wscriptm.exe from the 7z package, rename to wscript.exe (remove m) and copy to system32 folder.
there's a batch inside that automates this installation as well
