I read somewhere on the forum that there is a way of running 2 installs of K-Meleon without conflict (can't find it now)...I'd like to install the 1.6 beta exe version, along with with my 1.54 install...any advice please?

Best keep it really separate, that means don't use the setup-exe, but just use the 7z version. Unzip it into a new folder, and it will create its own new profile in that folder too. Make sure that folder has writing rights when surfing the web.

To get a start icon for this version, pull the new exe to your quickstart bar or to the desktop or right-click to create a LINK.

If you want to start that version while the old one is currently running, add "-new" to the target field of the start icon:
Right-click it, click properties, and change like that:
....\K-Meleon16_beta1\k-meleon.exe" -new

If you want to start the old version while the new one is already running, you'll have to add "-new" to the icon of the old version. Just whatever will run as second!

In the new version you could create two or more profiles, I have one named "default" (for testing) and one "mine" (customized). You can copy over the contents of your 'old' profile folder into the new one. If you're not sure about the location, click
Edit > Configuration > Profile folder

I have many versions. I just create a batch file to launch each one, and a profile folder specific for each version.

My bat is simple:

k-meleon.exe -profilesDir "C:\Alternate_Profile\Directory"

This give me a crash on 1.6b2 & crash report plugin doesn't work :/

Today it just working fine and not crashes :]
