Don't think so, even I don't like last Ubuntu builds (unity, ....)
For now, I keep 12.04 which rolls fine with my old config.
After that, I will probably use xubuntu.

You should really at least consider switching to Kubuntu, Xubuntu, etc.
These builds are also officials builds made by Ubuntu, but user interfaces are lighter (for xubuntu, lubuntu or also a little for ubuntu-gnome)
But my purpose was not exactly what you seem to understand.
I was just comparing all the security tools needed to make XP (and more generally Windows) to be able to run without to much pain ...
