SpaceX launched its Falcon Heavy rocket for the first time with a Tesla roadster on board.
The highly anticipated launch took place Tuesday at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Falcon Heavy rocket features three boosters and 27 engines to give it a powerful thrust.
SpaceX owner Elon Musk said he used the rocket to send his Tesla roadster into orbit as a mock payload.

The latest on the Telsa Roadster in Space ... I lifted this post from the MSFN forum, it has the latest information dated 13 Feb 2018.
Starman and the red Tesla are really making tracks ... from the article below dated 13 Feb 2018. There is also a web site tracking the roadster ... new website ‘whereisroadster.com’.

The current location is 1,229,072 miles (1,978,001 km, 0.013 AU) from Earth, moving away from Earth at a speed of 6,874 miles/hour (11,063 km/hour, 3.07 km/s).
The car is 143,273,150 miles (230,575,856 km, 1.541 AU) from Mars, moving toward the planet at a speed of 43,941 miles/hour (70,716 km/hour, 19.64 km/s).
The car exceeded its 36,000 mile warranty 228.0 times while driving around the Sun, (8,208,548 miles, 13,210,382 km, 0.09 AU), moving at a speed of 55,424 miles/hour (89,196 km/hour, 24.78 km/s).
The closest approach to Mars in the next orbit will occur on Jun 10, 2018, and will be approximately 0.739 AU away."

Elon Musk confirmed late Tuesday the Falcon Heavy and its lone Starman passenger have completed one final engine burn towards a “trans-Mars injectionâ€.
The powerful rocket launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 3.45pm EST (8.45pm GMT) on Tuesday before breaking out to into space.
Mr Musk revealed yesterday the final rocket burst worked better than intended and has quite significantly shifted the Roadster’s trajectory.
The SpaceX founder tweeted: "Third burn successful. Exceeded Mars orbit and kept going to the Asteroid Belt."
