Hmmm but I have SSE2. That's why I passed that link with little attention. Are the standard dlls buggy?

if your system is > XP and you have no av*.dll in K-Meleon.exe's folder, you're using system codec, which may be buggy with some stream.

Thanks for all the updates and fixes roytam! Much needed.
Must be an awful lot of work, and have seen at the MSFN forum that you're even parallel working on other XP-browsers too at the same time, incredible.

Noticed only now that there are actually 3 different LAV-downloads linked in the first post. But all in 1 line, that makes it look like it were only one plus comments. Should be made easier recognizable.

Those 3 differ in compatibility.
First download is for modern SSE2-abled systems
Second is SSE2-independent.
Third is for extremely outdated old systems.

Third is for extremely outdated old systems.

Not only. If people are confused, and questions continue to arise, I think it is Important to stress that so-called "old" DLL ( https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav-dll-lite-noasm.7z ) works on any hardware (yes not the most optimal way, but it is working and stable). And so-called "new"
( https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav.7z ) do not work on all CPU (requires SSE2).
As a compromise, you can use LAV filters version of 0.69 (requires only SSE,
https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/download/0.69/LAVFilters-0.69-x86.zip ).
...
Can be at least DLL with SSE (without SSE2 earlier https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav-mmx.7z , now https://o.rthost.win/palemoon/lav-dll-lite-mmx.7z ), although I would recommend without optimizing instructions (see tests:
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253,143555#msg-143555
and
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253,143504#msg-143504 )
to include in a basic supply by default? For people, not reading entire conference, would be helpful.

And questions will be less : )

New regular/weekly KM-Goanna release:
Is any auto-update planned?

no, I'd rather prefer updating files manually.
But if anyone want to write downloader/updater, please go ahead.

Automatic update is evil : )
They are harmful for stable configurations. And reason is often laziness of end user.

@Anixx
If you really want it, you can easily write a batch script with wget and https://o.rthost.win/kmeleon/ as URL (yes, in Windows and will not have problems with HTTPs). Then using a macro, load it (each time you start the browser). If there are problems with local parsing of pages, you can use cURL.
If you need to decompress, almost any archiver utility supports command line (7-zip, as example).
And that's all. You can even use scheduler in OS.

https://o.rthost.win/kmeleon/KM-Goanna-20171223.7z
Changelog:
(...)

To my surprise, AdblockPLUS is now included out-of-box too?
Wow... I know everyone requests it, am just looking through the eyes of clueless new KM users, and this makes now whopping 3 adblock tools included in KM grinning smiley Can just see them thinking we're completely crazy, especially since the configuration for each one is shattered all over the (hidden) prefs or menus - but then again, no one will even be aware, instead completely confused when reading or discussing adblock questions in the forum:

1) Old css-adblock:
a) menu Tools > Privacy > Block Ads on/off (no mention which of 3)
b) F2 > Page Display > Content Filters (this edits:
config file: /profile/chrome/adblock.css (dating from 2006, lots false pos.)
Default: off
pref: kmeleon.adblocking=false

2) basic-adblock (Dorian):
F2 > KM plugins > adblock on/off (no mention which of 3)
no menu, no buttons, nothing to be found in GUI
config file: ??
Origin: kplugins > adblock.dll
Default: popup-choice at profile creation
pref: kmeleon.plugins.adblock.load=false

3) AdblockPlus:
no menu, no buttons, nothing to be found in GUI
Only chance: user has been told to manually type into urlbar "about:addons"
(and there of course no hint there are 2 more adblock tools)
Origin: xpi-addon in extensions folder
config files: /profile/adblockplus (copied from default profile)
Default: enabled without asking
pref: extensions.adblockplus.enabled=false

Lots of GUI stuff to fix yet...

PS:
At FIRST RUN number-2 asks: "New plugin found: adblock. Enable"?
When I click yes, two tabs in kmpref-sheets (at GUI+JS) are broken immediately.
And remain broken until some day I disable it again in F2-kmplugins
(or clear startupCache, but users need experience to know this, and also very unusual at first run already)
No one else??

PS2: a bug tracker would be very handy.
The one in the left bar here stops already at "76b4" sad smiley

Edit: this thread was split, the general Adblock stuff to be continued here:

Regarding the version numbers, I agree. roytam1 could have raised it for better differentiation. But still you should realize that this is pre-release stage. It is not THAT important to have a version number just now. I am not a fan of the weekly releases to be honest. As long as this only occurs in pre-release stage, fine. But when it comes to final releases I believe fewer builds would do. Best would be to sync their occurence with the Pale Moon releases, as the changelog would also qualify for K-Meleon then and a better order of releases could be achieved.

Indeed, what could be bad? In fact, in global view, changes only one file (xul.dll). For me, it is very convenient for update an already configured version of its Assembly (replacement only one file). No one is forcing to upgrade. On contrary, I must say thanks for latest version of engine.

@siria
Honestly, don't see point in excessive attention to version number. With minimal edits, scripts can be run on current version. In other cases, I think those who uses own design, it is able to change them. But if not, I don't think it will help them.

Integration, as I can see, has not changed since KM74. As and management of minimal built-in AdBlock (by Dorian). At least, I do not have problems with output of control elements.
As an example http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253,143981#msg-143981 .
Yes, need scripts, but it's pretty standard way (this is a feature of interface organization).

I do not want to use AdblockPlus ... or any Adblock. I don't know enough about it and if it really works or blocks things it shouldn't.

Thanks siria for all the 'clues' and 'hints' of where to look. I have looked around and I don't seem to have it installed anywhere. It probably would be nice to be able to turn it 'off' and 'on' as needed.

I am using the latest KM76 update by roytam1 and when I go to 'about:addons' I see no mention of it. I am not sure but I must have said 'no' when that popup box first appeared.

AdblockPlus may be a good thing to have installed but as I said earlier, I don't know enough about it and if it really works.

Maybe others here can enlighten me and tell me for sure if it does work.

'Light subscription' is a small set of blocking rules (mostly regexp'ed) included in the ABP package for KM, prepared by me (package, not the ruleset).

Yes, it's already preinstalled in Pro-build.

The sheer number of releases becomes annoying over time, trust me. Also, one totally loses the ability to know and support all those releases. I do not intend to do weekly updates, as it is not that useful. Look at the changelog of your release from December 23rd, 2017. Is that really worth a new release? There is a reason why the Pale Moon teams waits until a new release makes sense. Whatever, do as you please. I won't update it weekly.

I happen to like the weekly updates from roytam1 ... or whenever they might be released. It works for me as I see K-Meleon getting better with each build.

It doesn't seem to be a big deal ... whenever a person downloads an update, they should have the latest good working copy of K-Meleon.

Also, with the weekly updates ... doesn't it make it possible to discover a problem easier and fix it ... instead of having an update every two or three months and having several things to fix or figure out.

I am for weekly or whenever you release a newer build.

This is K-Meleon, not Firefox.
We're used to gaps between new versions and their bugfixes of about a year or two - or four... The prospect of getting direly needed BUGFIX-Updates weekly doesn't exactly annoy the regulars here
And it's not even also direly needed GUI-updates for gecko functions that started already working many years ago and still have no GUI yet in KM, no, so far it's even just bugfixes of the engine inside.
This is something completely different from the Mozilla release-craze who introduce or KILL Features all the time, e.g. breaking addons as they please and forcing enourmous amount of update efforts for others.

Also, with the weekly updates ... doesn't it make it possible to discover a problem easier and fix it ... instead of having an update every two or three months and having several things to fix or figure out.

I am for weekly or whenever you release a newer build.
...

Good point, callahan. The only thing I really have a problem with is the ridiculous version inflation. We are inevitably going to lose our overall view. Maybe it would be possible to do weekly builds, but then to condense them into a few main builds (perhaps mirroring the Pale Moon releases)? Would this make sense? Anyway, good point. Didn't think about that.

I like the more updates as possible because each update is a newest thing solved, mainly if there is a good version control work behind of what's merged inside each one of them. Anyway, I don't understand you on this reasoning because you first claimed against the lack of updating and now you are claiming against the high number of updates. So what? For me the addition of the compilation date separated by a point (period) at year date is more than enough to know what it includes, mostly if a good changelog work is being done, naming each release like KMeleon 17.1223 (this is how I store all versions). tongue sticking out smiley

By the way, github version is 17.1215 and @roytam1 site is 17.1223.

@Roytam1 thanks for your good work! smiling smiley

I propose also to edit Wikipedia articles to include latest development of K-Meleon Goanna by @Roytam1, mainly to keep updated the history in some way:
