Flashblock can only be toggled while JS is allowed. Yes it's a bit confusing, but it's always been that way. When it's grayed out, the checkmark merely shows the last state, reading the pref. But if grayed, without JS, flashblock cannot block anything, checkmarked or not.

Yes, I disabled it for KMRC2pro by @Rodocop, and I think I will finally disabled it too for KM-Goanna to avoid confusing myself while testing pages and so forth. Thanks. smiling smiley

Thanks for the advice. For loading in background. So I waited some time.

Yes - comparatively high CPU load. 46-50%. With 45% CPU my ventilator starts to run. Above 200 MB RAM used. But all also high on the other browser I tested. Chromium Advance 32 bit for XP.

About the same with the Elwis mp3 link kindly provided by Chanson Yu.

This was playing while the first was not but with BOTH similarly high system resources used.

Very strange IMHO. So what is causing this - MP3 Playing or what?

When I switch JS out on the page the Java Script Writing Band at the top stops and the system load goes down.

Possibly the Java Script Writing Band is causing this?
To find out for certain we would need the Script that makes the
writing band and feed a test page with Chinese writing.

But without a MP3 player and Musik. Else with less html - play only the Musik.

Try here whether it is the same song.

Anyway - this song locally is around 2% when opened in K-Meleon TEST BUILD.

The checkbox works fine for toggling, but the checkMARK must have some typo. It looks always un-checked.

The CompactMenu remains incomplete since years sad smiley

Solution is very simple. Please:
add "&File" as popupmenu on the Gear-button too, above Edit + View + Sessions + Tools + Help
In menus.cfg, just 1 line to insert.

All other menus are present on the Gear-button, just not "File".
Some of its entries are directly accessible yes, but others are nowhere to be found. And some macro-created menus may land in Nirwana too, if there's no File menu.

I ran tests on page what you proposed:
https://www.360baze.com/audio-martin-garrix-vs-matisse-sadko-forever/

The first thing I found out, JS has nothing to do with it. Page can play music even with disabled JS.
Especially for You, I recorded a video solution that helped me (and a clear demonstration of the effect before and after settings). Processor use becomes a minimal.

Posted by: siria

Does no one else have this bug??
No one ever use any additional macros??
Or is it just my machine...?

This has driven me CRAZY:
As soon as I add any custom file (kmm-macro, or useragent.js etc.), after the next startup the Prefsheets are partly broken.
And remain broken, until either startupCache is deleted manually or the files removed again sad smiley

F2 > GUI > tab 4 broken
F2 > Javascript > tab 2 broken

Interestingly, both broken tabs are called "Popup Windows"
But their content is different, one has 1 "chapter", the other 3.

Only once, the errorconsole reported something about a missing root element or such, but usually just nothing.
What's especially mysterious, once the startupCache has been deleted, in the future that added file remains "known", in some secret place! In the future it can be added or removed and added again, it doesn't matter, all is fine.

Finally figured out a possible clue:
it seems related to VARIABLES. Any.
Start testing below macro first as is, this seem to do no harm yet.
Then remove the comment sign before one of the Variable lines one by one => PrefSheets broken.

Quote
TEST MACRO:

test_empty{
# $_x="test";
0;
}

# $OnInit=$OnInit."test_empty;";
# $macroModules=$macroModules."test_empty;";

Anyone can confirm...?

If that bug can't be fixed, there must be created some easier workaround as to constantly tell all users to delete it manually sad smiley
Perhaps a new macro command "ID_DEL_STARTUP_CACHE" :cool:

The only thing that baffled (but functionality not affected), this message appears after first run

[JavaScript Error: "bad script XDR magic number"]*

Again, I repeat, the functionality is not affected. Not for browser, not my macros.

Extract the original browser package to a new folder. Add one test macro after another until it happens. Post download links to browser package and uploaded test macros.

Sure, it's what I always do for testing. Extract to new folder, portable, new profile, no old stuff.
Download was the latest one, 20180101(.3) still the same date-time here:
https://o.rthost.win/kmeleon/
But had this prob already from the very first Goanna-version I tried (perhaps also in gecko, had not tested any 7X for a longer while)
Test macro today: only the tiny one above.

But just to be sure, have AGAIN unzipped and all fresh - and suddenly no prob anymore!!
(did I mention it drives me crazy??!)
BUT: that means another step must be involved...
- enabling menu toolbar? No effect
- startup size max window? No effect
- showing UserAgent button? No effect
- starting with " -new" parameter commandline? No effect
- Edit > Manage Profiles > NEW + AskAtStartup? No effect
Running out of ideas...
Changing test macro a bit again?
==> BINGO, broken
- starting with FIRST profile again?
==> CRAZY - NOT broken!!!

Could it be this happens only with multiple profiles?
The first "default" profile eats everything, but second one starts choking??

Another vague impression, but needs verifying again:
The second profile sort of "inherits" what the first profile has already "automatically approved", it only chokes at macros or changes that the first profile has not known yet??

for "bad script XDR magic number" error, it happens when jscompiler version used in omni.ja mismatches with engine's javascript engine version.

I think if we need disabling jscompiler in Goanna?

for testing, you can delete js*loader folders in omni.ja (NOT browser\omni.ja), and delete startupCache. As a side effect, starting time will become longer.

I tried to delete, from ROOT\omni.ja. It has no effect. In browser\omni.ja I did not find such folders.
By the way, the launch time is not increased.

After complete removal of the profile (not only startupCache) XDR magic error is gone smiling smiley!

Thank You roytam1 and thank You hermes for pointing me to it.

BTW. We have a new string translation to add to the kml &Copy URL

I did not realize that my own hack (placed it profile menus.cfg) was not needed any more.

Ok for me if You all think - it is sufficient.

p.s. But I meant adding Paste & Go to K-Meleon's IE/MFC inherited URL BAR menu.
I checked 1 day ago. The old URL Bar right click menu dated back as far as 0.72, the oldest KM installed on my system, to current Test K-Meleons. It always appears in the PC's language, German for me. No matter what language I set K-Meleon to. And it is identical to IE's 6 URL Bar menu installed here.

The goody about the old URL Bar menu was that it lets You change direction etc. in languages that need it. German does not need it.

So if we do not use anything from MFC menus any more - why tie MFC into all headers and not use different c++ library set?

Before K-Meleon became based MFC embed it was based on Winembed by the first dev in 0.1 or so times. The kplugins were until some versions ago not needing MFC.

I propose also to edit Wikipedia articles to include latest development of K-Meleon Goanna by @Roytam1, mainly to keep updated the history in some way:

You have to be careful with that since someone asked about including K-Meleon in Goanna's article and this is what they answered:
Quote

Not notable enough to be mentioned. It would need its own webpage and coverage by an external source, like Pale Moon and Basilisk have. -Pmffl (talk) 21:03, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Of course, you can always edit it beyond what the wikipedists say, but that could trigger a reversions war that could cause the semi-protection of the articles for a few months (or indefinitely).

If you don't delete your browsing history frequently, maybe the link is still there, if so, it should appear checking the history (Control + H) or in the moz_places table of the places.sqlite file of your profile (although to open it you will need a SQLite file viewer).

IMHO, for a browser you can control most if not all those prefs are redundant.
Of course, if you are a developer and you want to earn some money for your hard work & time invested, you'll opt for a per site override.
So you can make sure that the user won't forget to switch the UA back to the default.
One can also argue that a clueless user isn't aware of UA sniffing and thus a per site overide is the best way to overcome the issue. It's also the best way to keep him a clueless user for the rest of his life.
As a former Opera Presto long time user it's kind of déjà vu to me.

K-Meleon was and still is the browser you can control. It might sound selfish but it's the only reason I prefer it over other browsers.
(Try to make a software for idiots and you'll end up with a software used only by idiots. OK, the world is brimful of idiots. smiling smiley )

BTW,
fonts.googleapis.com
gets blocked by me. If a site gets blocked or is broken therefore I have the choice to unblock temporary or to move along.

I agree with your post:

"(Try to make a software for idiots and you'll end up with a software used only by idiots. OK, the world is brimful of idiots.)"

It was my hope for the new year - 2018 that all 'idiots' would finally be gone ... extinct like the dinosaurs ... but that's a lot to hope for.

My advice ... be careful, try to avoid them ... hide in the bushes till they walk by, maybe only go out at night. I have a feeling there are still many around in 2018.

There must be a place somewhere that is completely free of Zombies and Idiots, I keep searching the internet for such a place ... but people aren't talking. The lucky ones have found this place and have located there.

The rest of us can only hope we can make it to '2019'.

You are an expert of such stuff, Yogi. Those are rather rare.
And sure, automatics can help that clueless users stay clueless longer.
But as a "semi-expert" somewhere in the wide range between, I'm grateful that others make my life easier by not having to solve each and every tricky prob myself, wasting a lot of time and nerves (grrr), and often even without success (double-GRRR).
So I can only say a big ThankYou to the Palemoon dev to collect that knowledge, and to include it out-of-box smiling smiley
And also thanks to Rekufad for the great link tips! (the others are very interesting too)

Also considering that this UA-list covers only the most frequently annyoing domains, there are still plenty other sites out there among the millions/billions that need user fiddling. So in my opinion still lots of "chances" for clueless users to get aware of UAs.

Such a prepared, but overridable list matches perfectly my personal browser philosophy:
The browser you control - but if you don't have the time or skills, it helps you a bit with the most frequent probs. Always under the condition: those automatics are not FORCED upon expert users who want it different.
To me, that is MORE control for more users, not less.
As so often in live, a healthy balance is the golden way, not one extreme or the other.

@callahan: we're in the same boat, what a sad world out there and still going more downhill sad smiley

"FORCED" - exactly that was my point though I'm not an expert user.
As long as the user is given a decent choice to quickly override, I couldn't care less with how many predefined override the browser will be shipped.
BTW, lots of sites won't work even if you override the UA. So this isn't a cure-all solution but may help sometimes.
I might be wrong but AFAIK Pale Moon doesn't give you that decent choice as K-Meleon does. At best, you'll have to download some extension or to write your own. GOOD LUCK with that. grinning smiley

I'm sorry for not agree you in this point. Everybody is fighting against something, fear, sadness, shame, anger, disgust... And everybody is searching for happiness, joy, trust, to live with no chains, or at least try to live happy in this sometimes nonsense world. Browser brand does not make them different, idiots or clever. What they make with their browsers do.

I have one folder of KM76RC2pro Portable for my friends with the basic menu, the backward and fordward buttons, the URL bar and the list of tabs below. They are not idiots. They only have been 'Chrome-ized' and 'Firefox-ixed'. Of course they know about all options, because I explained them the tricks to not harm K-Meleon itself (I apologize but it's easy to harm this browser if you disable the 'wrong' k-plugin or macro and IMHO some k-plugins and macros should be protected better)*.

Idiots deserve to be happy. Idiocy is an state of mind. It's not forever. Sincerely, I really love idiot people with the hands full of flowers and nice dreams, and I really fear clever people with only a gun and only a bad idea. Just my two cents, as always, of course.

@roytam1

Can I ask You to make a compact ffmpeg library for SSE2 too?
For MMX and without any instructions already there (and very compact). Thank you for that!
For SSE You did it before: (today your link is 404, but I kept it)
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253,143501#msg-143501 .

Lacks only compact solution for SSE2 (for a perfect kit).

By the way, smaller size of DLL, saves space on RAM disk (RAM disk is useful even in netbooks with 1GB of RAM, if system is 2K / XP / 2K3). It is faster than any SSD. And browser location on RAM disks is best way to add speed (at a small enough size only 128 MB (possible to do less), of course, you need to do a system for rollback and for profile copying, however, acceleration is worth it).

Yet it is noteworthy that start from RAM disk makes profile less (sqlite database is not so swell, provided they were not created earlier).

On HDD, and on RAM-drive (~10:1)

I recorded clean test (on video) for sizes of sqlite on HDD and on RAM-drive: (~174 Kcool smiley
(direct link) https://getfile.dokpub.com/yandex/get/https://yadi.sk/d/1CeiG_Fh3RCEwx

If you copy later, this smaller sqlite from RAM-drive in profile on HDD, he will remain for a long time ~1 MB (useful for small usb flash drive).

OFFTOPIC

Sincerely, I really love idiot people with the hands full of flowers and nice dreams, and I really fear clever people with only a gun and only a bad idea.

Oh JG, I used to feel the same, but unfortunately life teaches again and again: most genuinely nice people are equally harmful as the bad ones, both are currently destroying the world. Because most bad guys would have zero power if the nice ones wouldn't be so blind, elect and support them!! No matter how obvious those dictators are sad smiley So cluelessness is almost more dangerous as evil.

To reduce the number of options to choose or just to reduce them?
Actually we have four choices, I think we are plenty. :s

OFFTOPIC, thank you @siria, I agree all your words.

the mmx version has sse/sse2 assembly included. and those compact(compat) ffmpeg are unlikely to be updated(unless encountering problems)
and lav.7z will follow LAVFilters updates.

All solutions for additional LAV libraries already have a compact edition (smaller ~5 times), and it would be right to do the same for SSE2. Why this can be useful, described above.

It is clear. But they (LAV.7z), you can compile and include only necessary decoders?
This will change size of files in 5 times.

as here: http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?19,143253,143501#msg-143501
but only with configure line: ... --enable-sse --enable-sse2 ...

Here you used only necessary decoders and parsers.
Most decoders of LAV cannot be used in context of browser.
Is this possible? Won't be hard? Just size of libraries was can be less than ~10 MB.
