Late but finally I've found out why the HTML5 vid didn't play.
With LAV Filters it plays fine. I tested at that time without them since I'm on Win7 and thought there is no need for them.
(As for the UA, it doesn't need a site specific override if one uses the useragent.kmm & useragent.js.)

Sorry completely clueless here - if this helps reduce risks, can I add this setting to KM1.6 too, and which pref (?) name...?
And just general: can it help to fend that stuff off by blocking JS, as so many other threats?
AFAIK, it's the same fix made in FF57 to prevent Meltdown, but it has nothing to do with Spectre.
It is built-in config of javascript engine. If you want to change it, you have to rebuild Gecko engine.

It has been weeks since I checked here so had no clue about any of it !!

Thanks here to those who have added good info for SP2 users like me.
I have in the past tried changing the kernel file to the SP3 version and got BSODs due to driver conflicts with the attendant headaches until I switched it back & repaired the damages inflicted by trying to get the drivers right for it.
Most of my gripes about all things SP3 related resolve to how it removes so much control from the user - and seems unstoppable when it chooses to update drivers, like it or not.
All the above being said - I would like to know if other diehard SP2 users here have made this change to the kernel file with ZERO troubles afterwards, please ??
Presumably if I did that, and changed the LAV DLL files, then the latest build will run for me and play videos, etc. OK, yes ??
I also agree that if it hasn't happened already - a separate thread for SP2 users would be very helpful.

KM-Goanna doesn't remember active Proxy after restart [solved]
How to reproduce without connecting to the Internet:
* set up KM for two proxies - e.g. ProxyHome(1) and ProxyOffice(2)
* activate ProxyHome(1) and exit KM
* start KM and switch to ProxyOffice(2)
* exit KM
* start KM and instead of ProxyOffice(2), still ProxyHome(1) is active
(KM-Gecko works as expected.)

You can. Go. Right click at destop link. Select properties. Example.
C:\KM-Goanna-20180113\KM-Goanna\k-meleon.exe -new
Then add parameter -new to path.
No two K-Meleons can open the same profile at the same time.
So for this each install needs an extra/separate profile!
Since we work with the equivalent of a portable install during tests - this is no problem.
Each test install has separtate profiles anyway.
The screenshot is missleading. My K-Meleon 76RC uses an ancient profile dating back to 74. Atually dating back from K-Meleon 1.5 times or earlier.
Below it is the newest test browser in default skin. BTW. Ikon missing. Top left.

No real technical problems. All seems to work for me.

All locales are sound. Minor updates of strings and spelling still pending for some.

In DE I've just checked the about-pages and (hopefully) all menus. Found about 10 strings missing yet, showing up in other languages - most in italian! (Congrats to Niceeight for near perfect completeness) But we can discuss this further in the DE-thread.

We're often reporting broken or non-optimal things here, in this "very lengthy thread" (as smallhagrid put it so fittingly, LOL!). But almost all gets forgotten again immediately, because currently only engine-updates have top priority. Don't know if others are keeping lists of their reports, but for the rest of us here's a tip:
For future forum searches for such posts, which you want to check again later, use a special keyword! For my own posts, have already started awhile back with adding "HOWTO" for explanation postings, and will now add _check_ for bug-reports or improvement requests. Just as word, in beginning or end. The underscores make words "unique" for the search function, so you will only get hits where really the underscores are around that word too.
If it's in the first line, and followed by another word or some to quickly see what it's about, this little trick will hopefully be handy for precise search results. And optionally you can combine searches with author names, as usual.

As I wrote. We have the technical problems solved - mostly.
Strings are no problem - but a question if assiduity (Beharlichkeit).
Name them - or send fixed kml. I know there are missing strings.
But that is normal.

p.s technically best. Switch to Russian and back and look for untranslated strings.
Russian variant is very up to date - and the other letters show You that there is a problem or difference.

just peanut, not sure if matters:
instead I was surprised to find a "cache" folder again in the profile, next to "cache2" folder. But only in one of 3 profiles, and can't figure out how to reproduce it, although I've customized nearly nothing. Just toggled adblock on/off, startup-window-size, window-title, ultratiny test macro added and renamed, menu-toolbar visible, the usual... and switched various locales languages...
That "cache" folder was created at the same time as the "Offline cache" folder, both 7 minutes after profile creation. What created the latter, have no idea either.

Uh oh... just for my general understanding: If the en-US locale inside the OMNIs has missing strings, this does NOT break anything? So far I was relying that en-US must be 100% complete, or things would break in EN too... now confused again.

In this file not a fundamental difference. There will be different messages table. But these messages are not a problem as they are service messages. Specially now checked: and Russian KERNEL32.DLL on English OS, and English file on Russian OS... doesn't matter. Works and so, and so. Only when installing in another language will receive a warning. To work is not affected.
But nevertheless, for You, file was prepared on required English language. The English version (of this set) you can put in any language (because in English text no one will be confuse).

In DE I've just checked the about-pages and (hopefully) all menus. Found about 10 strings missing yet, showing up in other languages - most in italian! (Congrats to Niceeight for near perfect completeness
) But we can discuss this further in the DE-thread.
@all, a tip!
We're often reporting broken or non-optimal things here, in this "very lengthy thread" (as smallhagrid put it so fittingly, LOL!). But almost all gets forgotten again immediately, because currently only engine-updates have top priority. Don't know if others are keeping lists of their reports, but for the rest of us here's a tip:
For future forum searches for such posts, which you want to check again later, use a special keyword! For my own posts, have already started awhile back with adding "HOWTO" for explanation postings, and will now add _check_ for bug-reports or improvement requests. Just as word, in beginning or end. The underscores make words "unique" for the search function, so you will only get hits where really the underscores are around that word too.
If it's in the first line, and followed by another word or some to quickly see what it's about, this little trick will hopefully be handy for precise search results. And optionally you can combine searches with author names, as usual.
(sig) New unofficial K-Meleon 76.4 (KMG76.4) available, in own subforum.
Based on Goanna engine, called 'test' builds forever but more stable as 75.1 acc. forum members. It's 1-2 generations ahead of predecessor KM76RC-2016

As I wrote. We have the technical problems solved - mostly.
Strings are no problem - but a question if assiduity (Beharlichkeit).

Name them - or send fixed kml. I know there are missing strings.
But that is normal.

Froh - dass was passiert.
p.s technically best. Switch to Russian and back and look for untranslated strings.
Russian variant is very up to date - and the other letters show You that there is a problem or difference.

Interestingly, both broken tabs are called "Popup Windows"
But their content is different, one has 1 "chapter", the other 3.
just peanut, not sure if matters:
instead I was surprised to find a "cache" folder again in the profile, next to "cache2" folder. But only in one of 3 profiles, and can't figure out how to reproduce it, although I've customized nearly nothing. Just toggled adblock on/off, startup-window-size, window-title, ultratiny test macro added and renamed, menu-toolbar visible, the usual... and switched various locales languages...
That "cache" folder was created at the same time as the "Offline cache" folder, both 7 minutes after profile creation. What created the latter, have no idea either.

Yes there are 2 new strings are added in Goanna eninge:

I added them in locales\*\*.jar\mozapps\extensions\extensions.dtd (as English) and that page is working again. 7z archive updated.
Uh oh... just for my general understanding: If the en-US locale inside the OMNIs has missing strings, this does NOT break anything? So far I was relying that en-US must be 100% complete, or things would break in EN too... now confused again.
