UTF-8

Hi everybody,

As I could see in the next few weeks a new version comes out and I started to translate for Hungarian users, so we could install and use K-Meleon on our own language. My problem is with the UTF8 coding, because with this I can´t use a few letter, in this case a few word what I need.
Will this change with the new version? Or have a newer text file what I can translate as the 1.5?

Other Mozilla products like Firefox exist in Magyar language. So UTF-8 should IMHO work.
From what I red in the past. PPL usually have had trouble with bad editors.
Try with PsPad from http://www.pspad.com/

Localization files for K-Meleon 1.6 are AFAIK not finished.
& You best contact kko by mail if he does not find Your post.

From what I know: kml, Chrome: console2 and K-Meleon prefs will stay the same (mostly). They need to be translated. And they are much, long work.

The rest of the chrome dtd and properties files will mostly come from SeaMonkey 1.9's Toolkit.jar (which is identical to Firefox's 3 Toolkit jar - it exists in Magyar).

Chrome: Mtypes will not be used anymore.

I do not know about the rest.

Yep, from Firefox exist Hungarian version.
Now I use the program you linked, with this it works good (windos notepad isn't so smart grinning smiley)
Then now which files I need to translate exactly? The install-text is ready, the locales/xx-YY/kmeleon.kml is in progress. But if it's useless I won't continue them grinning smiley

Even if the version is to be changed, the files in locales files won't have a lot of change. Just perhaps a few strings. All what is translate haven't to be translated again.

Be carefull with Pspad, I like it, but I have had sometimes some surprises with encoding. it's easiest now, as since 1.5.x all works with utf-8, but for previous versions (1.1.x) kml and macro didn't use the same encoding, and there where often some errors when saving.

Welcome in the land of translators smiling smiley

@ Deus:
The files to translation can be found in Localization page.

Also of PsPad you can use Notepad++ as editor to translate.

Welcome to aboard.

desga2: yeah, from that page I downloaded the 1.5 local-files and I started to translate them. I tried the Notepad++, but with utf8 I could not use the "ő" or "ó" letters.

JujuLand: so I need to translate the .dll files also? How can I do that?

The dll in the localization package have to be translated as they are translation for kplugins and k-meleon.exe.

To do this translation you can use a tool named Reshacker, there are some others, but I don't remember the name, and I prefer ResHacker.

On the kko's pages you can found 2 docs for translating purpose one by kko and one by me.

Hi, Deus.

Translation process is difficult and time consuming; after the work is done it gives a lot of satisafaction, though. I wish you good luck on the translation.
To translate dll files use ResourceHacker.

Perhaps a right problem, don't forget it's a wsh script ...

I never use it, so I can't tell you more, and I'm now under Ubuntu, so wsh ...

But some other translators will be able to help you. Perhaps kko ?

I remember that kko mentioned a script that could be used to populate a new kml version with the strings from an older translation version. Could it be that one.

Needs Scripting host. Is that available on Your system?

Guenter, you're probably right, I remember something like that, even if I didn't use it.

If it's what we think, it not important, and the translation can always be handly made.
