desga2,
Is it time to revisit the issue of having a K-Meleon Portable version built on Km 1.6 beta 2?
Nick,
a revisit?
If You have that in mind You can write a tutorial what user settings are needed.
Nothings else to be done.
You have a portable 1.6.beta2 Yourself - I am sure even if You did not know.
Since at least 1.5.x K-Meleon is potentially portable by default. The recent GRE builds & updates have changed a parameter in the .mozconfig for the GRE build process so that it always builds:
# For portable version without %appdata%\K-Meleon folder when not needed:
ac_add_options --without-user-appdir
And I know You are using one of these updates.
If anyone needs a portable? The thing to do is to grab the 7z version of 1.6.beta or Fred's most recent update of a Linux version with GRE update provided from one of the GREs build done by e.g. me or anyone here that builds (not one grabbed from Mozilla.org) & You have a portable K-Meleon that does not even write into %appdata%.
Else for a 1.5.4 portable You can install the official version Win98 style with single user choice during initial setup. desga2's last GRE update for that version is created with support for portable in mind and will not write vain Profile data when not needed.
For the 1.6.beat2 installer version it is much the same as with 1.5.4 just that no automated GRE updater with a GRE that is build with the newly included parameter is available.
But IMHO the next beta will be already build so that it has an un-betraying GRE.
So all that needs to be done is to change user prefs suitable for a portable version.
An written how to by an native English speaking user is IMHO wellcome.
Greetings
